Without z-wobble there wouldn't be any z-binding and no need for a loose connection between nut and carriage/gantry. So in the end the problem is still the cheap wobbly lead screws. Manufacturers just found an equally cheap solution that works 99.99% of the time for 99.99% of ppl.

I prefer WD-40 lub, as it does not mix with dust as silicone, which makes putty mixture.
@GeekDetourСағат бұрын
This would be an interesting topic: which lubricants would be better for which part and why… or if there is not a clear winner, what are the pros and cons of some options. Have you been using WD 40 for some time?

Other plausible and sometimes hard to fix problem is inaccuracy of feeding mechanism. It can be dirty, it can have too less pressure or can be imprecise from the beginning of printer’s life. The last one is impossible to fix without some parts exchange.
@GeekDetour10 сағат бұрын
You are absolutely right. The extruder is so important and it is easy to overlook - specially about it being dirt with tiny rests of plastic, and the results become very weird. It was not my case, though 😅

Wouldn't the addition of Oldham Couplings eliminate the need to leave the Z-axis nuts loosely mounted? After all they are designed to allow movement in both the X and Y axis to some degree.

@Commander_HW Thank you! I actually gave up making the video… I wanted to make an easy “How to upgrade your iPod” tutorial… but it didn’t go out as planned - as you saw - I got so frustrated that the whole footage remained untouched on an external hard drive from 2016 to 2018… My wife insisted many times that exactly because of the mishaps, it would make a great video. She was right and I am glad I eventually listened to her 😄❤️ It was only possible because, even though I was already feeling defeated, I kept recording every step - but I felt ridiculous doing it.

And it felt a lot like it. The problem happened around April - I filmed the close-ups of the parts... and I tried to diagnose and fix the printer as fast as I could because I needed the printer working. I bought Sean's book in July, I read it, I wanted to talk about it... but it remained waiting for a good matching video. In December I was desperately needing money - my recent videos didn't get much traction... People buy 3D Printers for Christmas and printers are challenging... Christmas is an introspective time, and bringing back that episode was nostalgic too. People loved the video, they felt it helped them, and Sean's book is also extremely helpful. The video got VERY good traction and the book also sold a lot - it generated commissions for me. Sean reached out to appreciate the exposure. Going through Holliday season completely broke is depressing... but January was good. It felt like a late Christmas present. Money should not be important... but when you don't have any money, it makes everything hard.

It doesn't matter if the handle looks terrible or not (it doesnt), what matters is that you fixed a silly and simple flaw that was overlooked by Elegoo. However, there is one big bonus to them not doing it for you, and that is you can now place one or more wherever you please that fits your needs. Because I can see just as many complaints about placement from consumers about where they put it. Now if they only could do the same thing with the switches/antenna/ports/power connection, etc.
@GeekDetour4 күн бұрын
Ha ha ha, yeah! Maybe that’s the point: when you make a product for makers, a controversial item such as a handle, it’s design and where should it be located… maybe the best thing for a manufacturer is to keep the product as a blank canvas 🤣 People will proudly make it “their own”.

I'm having a lot of problems with my Neptune 4 pro, I might return it, I tried everything to fix this problem but I can't, I think the problem has to do with the wheels too but the official eleggo yt video fix does nothing, I got it to print very good for a whole day until it was bad all over again, lubricated, tighten the screws untightwn them, nothing, I even straight the rods and still nothing, the print had has a lot of play too but I can't tighten that eather.....

@@GeekDetour yes and no, its my secund i had problems with my first too and retuned it, also i cant find direct help with anyone sadly, i joined discord but its so hit or miss, heres what i have tried: -realighning the rods -bed leveling -the head moves but i cant fix it more -the wheels that more up and down i cant get them properlly siting, elegoo has a video on it but i follow the steps and did nothing -the brass part you talked in the video that move with the z rod i have tried with them tight, supper lose and +/- tight still same results. also when i releveled the rod the prints gave a better result, the part where the printer head is around 2mm off to one side making the top wheel on the left to stay with presure and the bottom right wheel to have presure too, i tried to level it too but when i try it just goes back to the position it used to be

I recommend you to invite a friend who has experience in adjusting the printer mechanically. When you write: “I adjusted the wheels” I read: he tried to adjust the wheels. How tight should it be? Someone with experience can help you a lot.

I personally prefer a 123 block. The large metal block cools it down and you don't have have to flip the part. It is also exceptionally flat.

It makes sense - when your insert goes on a flat part. But there are parts where the insert is surrounded by other features. That’s where the BOLT comes in 👍

Quick Question, At around the 4:15 mark you put the print in a jar of I assume alcohol, and cure the print while sitting in the jar. Is there a particular reason why you are curing it in the solution instead of just having it sit in the cure station?

Even still after all the fancy stuff, the best technique to index correctly is to heat the heat set on a bolt with a torch and then raw dog that fucker in there. The bolt will help you index the heat set and let you know if it’s straight or not.
