Better hang a RED flag behind that cart to be D.O.T. LEGAL! It's right at the limit. IMHO!
@rbromfield21126 ай бұрын
It only extends out 30 inches, 6 inches inside the legal limit. The HNGC-350 and the High Sands Beach Buddy which is the beach / fishing version have been in production for over 4 years now, sell pretty well and we've never had an issue reported for being extended too far out behind the vehicle..

I’d love to have one of these! I’d use it for my e-trike and then when it’s down, my trike can pull it like a trailer. I can use it when camping to go fill up water jugs all at once, and a million things. Unfortunately, my van has barn doors, not a lift gate, and I dont think they would clear the thingy that pokes up that the wench sets down into. I’d seriously consider one if it could!

Ramps don't increase the storage capacity of your vehicle they decrease it. The HNGC-350 gives you the extra storage of a cargo carrier plus the ability to lift / lower while full and no reloading or unloading, just roll it away.

Decent idea,but one flaw... It needs to raise it higher or else if you go over much of a hump the front of the vehicle will raise as it goes over it and the cart will get closer to the ground with possible contact.When it contacts the ground as you're moving the cart tires and wheels are going to get trashed and possibly/likely trash the cart also.Same thing if backing up over a hump.The angle of some driveways will have the same effect. I'll make my own but with a couple simple mods it will raise the cart so the bottom of the wheels are level with the bottom of the bumper or better above it and the hand winch is removable after loading. Ahhh,after reading down through the comments before posting I see there is a updated version....maybe this will be at least level with the bottom of the bumper.
@rbromfield21122 жыл бұрын
This was a prototype, the unit that went into production is more than 30 pounds lighter and has better clearance, equal to or better than your average cargo carrier. With that said we've developed a whole new product, it's an overland version coming out this month. This one will double the clearance bringing it well above the bumper greatly improving your ability to traverse rough terrain. There will also be other improvements making it much more user friendly for the beach, fishing, and camping etc. This new product, the ( High Sands Beach Buddy 200 ) will debut at ICast 2022 in Orlando Fl. this month. The HSBB-200 is designed for people who love to get off the beaten path. More information will follow after we've come back from Orlando.

The tires in that video were front tires off of a lawn tractor 13X6.5, I bought them through Tractor Supply. But since then I've got 12X7 Beach balloon tires and they're the best in the sand. You can get them on Amazon marketed as kayak cart tires or we will have them available on a Beach / Fishing addition of the HNGC-350 called the High Sands Beach Buddy, it'll be out in July.

I'd buy one in a second if there was more clearance below the tires. If the axles sat closer to the carrier and the wheels protruded from it instead of being completely under, this would work well for me. Very cool idea and congrats on getting it into production.
@rbromfield21123 жыл бұрын
Hey Don, thanks for the comment. We are currently working on a design that will more than double clearance on the exit angle. We're also making an adaptor for Jeep owners to use the HNGC-350 with their spare tire in place. I'm a Jeep owner and know how important the extra clearance is when off road.

Is it supposed to wobble a LOT??? Got one and the wobble left & right & up & down is crazy. I’m worried that because it can wobble so much and it’s made of a softer aluminum metal that it can crack and cause an accident. I haven’t tried taking it on along trip but worry that the wobble will be so great that we will be able to hear and feel it.

Of all the HNGC-350s sold and used by customers no one has as of yet had any problem caused by the play in the unit. Some play is necessary to allow it to raise and lower but no one has ever stated that they felt that it was excessive. No one has stated that while driving they can feel or hear it moving while raised into the transport position and secured using the supplied trailer hitch pins. If you have any problem with your HNGC-350 contact the manufacturer Great Day Inc. to have your issues resolved, they are committed to great customer service.

I purchased the hitch only kit from Camping World's online site. Time to ship is now over 10 business days, so possibly call GreatDay's 800# directly and order straight from there(wish I knew that existed before I bought from Camping World). I bought this to attach to the back of a custom, off-road wheelchair. Well under 350lbs. Much safer from tipping over than ramps or hoist cranes for wheelchairs. Low cost. Wanted to support a USA company. While I wait for it to arrive, what size is the L bracket that bolts to the cart? Is it standard 2" male receiver tube size? If I knew that, I could prepare the mount before the kit arrived.

@@jbravo70 there is some looseness that allows it to move a little more than I would like. On the trip to the beach I usually use a couple of ratchet straps from each side to the safety chain hooks on the hitch. Solid as a rock while on the highway. Once we get to the beach we don't use the straps and just let it move around as it likes. Slower speeds so it's not an issue. No problems so far. The wife has taken it a few times and she loves it.

LOL That's because GM.....Generic Motors. I had a '95 Ranger and hauled a Raptor 660r plus 200lb toolbox and some other gear.The quad alone weighed lil over 400lb and the truck wouldn't even squat 1/4 that much with quad sitting on tailgate unloading by hand.GM's are not good work/haul vehicles. Had a '01 Dodge 1500 that would squat about that much,but then that was with a whole pallet of Wonderboard Lite/Cementboard remodeling bathrooms.A 3'x5'x1/4" sheet (remember this is just Wonderboard Lite,it's lighter than ordinary Wonderboard) weighs approx 22lb per sheet and there's 75 on each pallet...so you're looking at approx 1650lb without including the pallet and/or other materials to do the job. Get a GM if you're going grocery shopping or hauling your laundry,if you want to do some actual work or hauling you better get a real truck.

@rbromfield21127 жыл бұрын
I wish you well on your project, I've been working on mine for years. Your hurdle in replacing the wheels that came on the cart with the wider ones will be the length of the axles on your standard wheel kit. On earlier attempts I've shortened the hubs on rims that will work with the wide tires by cutting them off, then replacing the bearings, another solution I used in early carts was to weld extensions on the axles. Another method I used was to split the wheels and build a spacer to put put between the two pieces of the original wheel to make it wider so that you can put the wide tires on it. I also experimented with using a duly wheel tire set up like the trailer on a semi. Cutting the hubs worked the worst, I went away from these methods because they're labor intensive, and the end results are much better than what you have now, but not perfect, not good enough for resale. In the end I designed a wheel kit that met my specifications and had them built, this works perfectly, but is expensive. I'm in the process now of taking one of my hobbies, (making the perfect beach cart) and turning it into a business.
