Yup, exactly that. While you held the rETH it increased in value relative to ETH, so if you swap back you should get more ETH than you initially paid. Of course, depending on how long you held and how much you have, transaction fees will cost you some of your profits.

rETH price goes up relative to its staking rewards as they are included in the price.

Heya! No change from a year ago, except that now after the merge staking rewards (including those for rETH holders) have gone up. Oh and also: right now rETH is actually trading at a (small) premium on secondary markets compared to stake.rocketpool.net, and combined with today's low gas fees you might actually do well to just use the Rocket Pool website to stake rather than UniSwap or other markets. Fundamentally though: no change whatsoever compared to a year ago. Want to stake ETH using Rocket Pool? -> get and hold rETH.

Decentralization. While yes it might not directly affect you at first, you at least want to participate in the network in a decentralized manner to best secure your investment even if your participation is very minor.

It's not actually staking your coins yourself by running a node - true. But apart from that it has everything to do with staking. Way more than 'staking' your coins in a centralized exchange, for example, where your coins are used for lending rather than actual staking.

It’s a peg, it’s meant to tie its value to ETH. It gains/loses value at the same rate as ETH because it simply represents it on chain
