Commander draft format I have played for the last 6 months in our 4 player pob. * 3 packs per player (or ca 50 cards per player from any cube * 40 card size decks minimum * 25 starting health * Any rare/mythic/legendary/planeswalker can be commander (if players still stuggle, allow uncommons) * No color locks due to commander because that make no sense in a limited format Bonus: We use monarch rule because it is a great multiplayer option to guide who to attack and reward it. the first player to deal combat damage take the monarch card. This format allow you to dive heads first into THEME and flavor, endorsing the mechanics in any format, and have commander involved too. PS: And remember, buying a draft/play booster box = buying a set thematic CUBE!

I see this video and I think the cube has to include Oko Thief of Crowns and whoever plays it has to take a shot of Malort.

This has the exact same message as a video called Primal and the Death of the $100 Board Game. Having nice components is the standard for so many new games, but nothing beats the feeling of raw gameplay. The highlight of my table should be my opponents, not the tray that holds my game pieces
@ChillMTGtvАй бұрын
I'm okay with nice/quality components. But I don't want to feel "removed from the game" or have barriers put in place that restrict how/when/where I play my favorite game. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the recommendation, those are really solid tips, i feel more confident now! My only doubt is what to use as mana fixing, those dual color lands that enter tapped and some banners and artifacts are a good start?

I don't know what banners are. But whichever you choose for mana fixing, ensure you include enough! Breaking singelton restrictions for mana fixing is pretty common.

That's what I've got going on with artifact and enchantment strats in my commander cube. I've taken to using auras as my main evasion cards so they're useful in most decks and some good vehicles so Sram is useful for artifact decks too. Eidolon of blossoms works in etb also

have you considered doing a quick 'debrief' after the last match on how the deck/cube felt? what cards over/under performed and what you may have liked/disliked about the environment? just a thought i had watching through the videos, sometimes after the last game they end a little suddenly lol. though, this may add more editing/work than is worth it
@ChillMTGtv Жыл бұрын
Nice, yep that’s a great idea as just “ending” the video after match 3 is kind of abrupt. I’ve considered it but right now most folks don’t watch to the end of the video 😥. For example, this video only 7% of viewers watched to the end.

Really enjoying the draft so far, the cube looks super cool! What was the reasoning for priest over parcel myr? to me a potentially repeatable blocker with lurrus that also draws a card for 2 mana is better than a single use 3 mana draw a card
@seagullseb7040 Жыл бұрын
nevermind the parcel myr wheeled and you said it was good with lurrus lol
@ChillMTGtv Жыл бұрын
Yeah, great point. I was just looking for more creatures at that point in the draft. Paying (2) to draw of parcel my (and sacrifice it) is a bit of a cost whereas the priest just draws the card straight away. That’s at least what my thought process was.

To cube on MTGO, does it cost money? I have only ever cubed in paper.
@ChillMTGtv Жыл бұрын
@@stormblest Great question! Someone does need to own the digital cards for the cube (usually the cube designer). Then, after drafting on draftmancer.com, that person trades the cards to each player fon the MTGO client so each player can build the deck they drafted. Then those players play normally. After the matches, players trade the cards back to the cube designer for use again in the future. It's basically like loaning out cards for use. I prefer playing cube on MTGO (when not in paper) because it is a well-supported system that handles the game rules better than alternatives such as cockatrice. Another option is to play Cube on Arena (MTGA) but the card pool is not as expansive as on MTGO. Jank Diver Gaming Discord holds a weekly MTGA cube draft. Lastly, you may already know this, if so, I apologize, but here is a decent write-up regarding MTGO for people not familiar with the software: www.cardhoarder.com/mtgo-beginner-guide
