So i have a question can i install a heating element with more watt. I cant find anywhere a 208v 3000watt Heating element. So what can i use instead

I have an old socket with cloth wiring but it doesn't have a ground wire what should I do
@millin3608 күн бұрын
The best you can do is connect the black (hot) wire to the brass side and the white (common) wire to the silver colored side. This is not ideal because it leaves out the redundant ground. At some point, you will want to upgrade the electrical system.

So, not to be a pick: It's a Multi-Meter. AND you are testing to see there is voltage to the Heating Element. Probably have the meter set to AC Voltage in the less than 200V range.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm glad you were paying attention. I hope you were able to repair your heater.

Most of the time these heaters are in damp locations, a little rust may be unsightly, but probably won't cause any problems. Thank you for your comment.

This is the easy part, when you get to paint and it does not match the existing and then you have this giant off colored patch LOL. This is my main issue, I can patch I can NEVER get the patch to match the surrounding area, ANY TIPS please post.
@millin360Ай бұрын
Yes, unless you primer (or paint) the repaired area, and then repaint the whole wall you wil see a different sheen where the patch was made. I cover this and texturing the patch to match in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4HLdI2am75_Y8k

@@millin360 OK, thank you for the help. I think I am like most I can get the patch pretty nice, then I totally fail at the paint side. I will watch your link and try and learn some pointers to address this. I have a bunch of repair work to do so this is very helpful. Thanks!

This is exactly what I was looking for .. thank you . What size of bucket are you using for the triple umbrella? I have the same one and am having a hard time judging the size from the video
@millin360Ай бұрын
We used a plastic version of a "half barrel". We bought it at a store called Tractor Supply. I have seen them at other places too. We love the triple umbrella, it also has solar lights that are the perfect illumination for our deck. Thanks for the comment.

Successfully changed out my heating elements thanks to your video. The most difficult part was getting the top element out. It was very tight. The tool that was specifically designed for this didn't work. It didn't provide the leverage needed to loosen the element. Ended up having to purchase a 1 1/2 inch socket and use my breaker bar to get it out.
@millin360Ай бұрын
Great Job! I found out that the leverage was the best way to get them out. Thanks for your comment.

It is private land owned by the "Friends of Jolly Mill" However, it is also a semi-public park, so visitors are very welcome. Once a month in the summer the mill is open and they grind corn.

Ok nope first remove the power which would be your black. That ensures if in the event the power is not off there is no load on your neutral and the ground protects you in the event of being shocked, neutral is second to be taken off and then the ground. The ground will protect you and give the electricity a route back to earth and not keep you on the wire being shocked. Ground last when uninstalling and ground first when installing. Just a good practice for safety.
@millin360Ай бұрын
Agreed. That would be a good practice to have. Thank you for your comment.

Left the corroded copper conductor on the Hot side. Grounded conductor, the bare wire, is "first to make, last to break" this way, any current always has a path back to rarth other than your body.

If the power is off, then there's really no danger of electrocution, however, the process that you want to do is solid advice as a matter of practice. Thanks for your input.

It is for a dedicated piece of equipment, assuming the dryer is gas and will be plugged in the recep with the washer. Many municipalities current code does not require GFI protection on dedicated receps.

Hi ,I thought mine was leaking at the lower element gasket,, but it appears it is leaking at the flange the element screws into. Is this repairable?
@millin360Ай бұрын
I would double check and make sure it is not actually leaking from the element. It is really easy to have 2 washers/ gaskets in there and that will leak nearly every time. If the flange is where the leak is the weld has failed and you will likely need to replace the unit. Thanks for watching the video.
