This show was just mostly actors from all of CBS’s shows. It’s like written into all their contracts was line item 782 must appear on late show once a month as we don’t want to have to fly you to nyc to be on Letterman that often not as if Dave wants to have you anyway. Sign here.

This is what made Craig the best host. When he had a normal guest who probably had another movie or thing to promote, he'd entertain the crowd, but when he had a guest that could engage the audience well, he'd become the perfect conversation partner. In my Mount Rushmore of Talk Show Hosts, Craig gets the Lincoln spot.

Ferguson is no slouch in brain terms. He had to hide his intellect in public because overclever comics can seem to be laughing AT the audience rather than giving them a reason to laugh in general at foolishness and the like. Don’t err in taking him for a tasteless flirt machine which is what he drifted into because that’s the result of constant ratings-pressures and studio execs who see every moment on camera in terms of $$$ earned by that piece of TV time. In America the dollar rules everyTHING, everyONE, everyWHERE. That’s one solid-wearisome barrier to be pushing against when you want quality, execs push only for fucking DOLLARS - because if they ever had something resembling a soul, they rooted it out decades ago as underproducing in dollar terms. I differ from this pair in that although I have a certain admiration for their (apparent) success, I can’t abide that dollar-priority that pervades virtually every thought in every American head. (Or appears so to do) And school shootings there only make the news if the numbers of the shot and the slain exceeds a certain number…

Having watched so much CF, I think I can compare him to Eric Morecombe, uk comedy genius, part of a duo, Morecambe & Wise. We were lucky to have them for around 26 years. Craig is funny by just being on screen. Repeats gags, stupid grin to camera, toys and puppets, all carried off by charm and charisma. God I'm loving these shows.
