yeah, agreed, his show succeeded in ways we may never find again. Even if he never entertains us quite the same again, his podcast "Joy" (started Aug '23) is also quite good. If you haven't listened, don't miss it, esp his interview of JRT (29-Aug). While it lacks the homely, comedic silliness of TLLS, it's much more authentic CF, in his natural element, sharing and exploring what brings him his Joy. 👊 it's available anywhere you prefer getting podcasts. -In a different reply herein, I shared a link to the JRT episode on Google Podcasts- (YT blocks links, but should be easy to search for).

Such an amazing host. He was so robbed, but the state that late night television is nowadays I think he dodged a bullet.

He wasn't robbed. He'd been saying for a long time he was going to quit the show after 10 years to do something else. If anyone was robbed it was us. I agree about dodging a bullet.

@@chronotrigger6746 I have the whole ten years saved in chronological order, so I still go to bed watching him every night. 2005 & 2006 episodes are sparse, 2007 are mostly there, 2008 even more so, and from 2009 to 2014 I have every episode. In 2012 he was talking about leaving when CBS offered him more money and that larger studio to stay two more years and he said OK. I have the episode where he talked about that deal, but I have 1,347 episodes to look through, but if I find it I'll let you know and you can find it on this channel. He has them all.

If you listen to enough of him being interviewed, especially by Howard Stern, you probably wouldn't get/keep the idea he was robbed. His TLLS succeeded in ways perhaps no other "daily" talk show could, for many intriguing reasons, but such a demanding, niche venue was unsustainable for him personally. He thrives on his relationship skills, which we obviously loved to watch, but the demanding format/timeslot/budget/system still limited his ability to thrive, simply as the human he strives to be. He's a freelance creative, not a 9-5 M-F talkie. One only needs to scroll through his varied and vast filmography to know how diverse and freelance he likes to be. His podcast "Joy" especially reflects and embodies his aspirations and authenticity. I think every episode has been deep, insightful, and welcoming. He wasn't robbed. He knew what he needed so that he could thrive much better now.

Thanks for continuing to fill out the collection. It is much appreciated. During the run of this show, Ferguson often joked about people watching it on KZbin so when I do watch it's an odd feeling. I think the "kids" call it "meta." Thanks again!

I think people forget how amazingly outgoing and charismatic Val Kilmer is. People seem to put him into the Sean Penn type category of being off the rails, out of control, way too serious, and not great at conversation but Val Kilmer has always been the exact opposite! You don't make the type of comedies he's made, if you are not extremely quick-witted, charismatic, and a fun human being

@@jimvalim1567 .. TLLS was already perhaps the least constrained show on US broadcast, and that's part of how he randomly became its host! He needed stability at the time, but otherwise he only thrives well as a freelance creative. He's thriving far better now. Scroll his more recent filmography, search YT for him being interviewed esp by H.Stern, and dig into it all. He left TLLS because he knew he couldn't thrive within any demanding system that enshrines him so much. Gotta respect any human that wise.

It says a whole lot that Val Kilmer was willing to go on a talk show in this time frame as he was barely ever doing any talk shows in this time frame, and almost none ever again after this time frame

Craig before Geoff is funny. But not as funny as with Geoff. Even Craig knew that. Once he got the sidekick he wanted, there was no looking back. They are like Yin and Yang. There is no Late Late Show without Craig Ferguson and Geoff Peterson.
