Thank you for this video. We have homeschooled from the beginning and our oldest is now a senior in high school. For the last several years, we have followed a more traditional schedule, but we started our year round. Our oldest is very busy working and our middle school children recently asked me to return us to a year round schedule, so that is exactly what we are doing! I am so excited about it! ❤

Tina! Thank you so much for your creativity and free homeschool 7 step diy planner. Please forgive my ignorance but this year I’m having so much trouble finding links to all of your free documents. I’ve subscribed numerous times and I was able to download the covers but that’s it! When I open your emails I go to the subscriber library and I see the link for the 7 step planner, I hit the link and it prompts me to subscribe again. Please help, what am I missing? I’ve read every thing and watched this video, I can’t find the links to the free forms you talk about.

First, I'm so happy you reached out. And second I hate that you're having problems. Yes, I had to change the way you get them to ensure that you get them. But not all my freebies are in the library. You need to go the EXACT post /page of the freebie you want and enter your email AGAIN. No, you will NOT have to wait to confirm since you're a follower . Then you IINSTANTLY get the freebie. So it's like you're subscribing again except the second you click enter you get whatever you want.♥♥ So yes it's prompting you to add your email again and it takes SECONDS.. A tiny bit different but this way I'm sure you get exactly what you need and it's going to YOU.♥♥

If September- June school year and have to have year end reports middle of June with local school division. How can you do year round school? How do you fill in gaps age / grade with both boxed curriculum that takes longer by few years than expected and life happens of loss of loved ones setbacks?
@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus02 жыл бұрын
Hi Loretta, so great to hear from you. First, I want to say I'm SO very sorry for your loss. 😢🥰That is a lot on your plate and when life hits, it makes homeschooling hard. So a BIG HUG from me. And yes, I CAN help you. First, the end of the year reports question. If you live in a state which requires reporting, you have to meet it of course. BUT this is the SECRET to keeping it easy. ONLY complete the assignments in your curriculum which are required by the curriculum. SKIP the other ones. (More on this in a minute about not completing the curriculum.) This keeps some of the stress down meeting that report. You can focus on the other assignments later. So depending on your state the end of the year report includes many different things, NOT just things from your boxed curriculum. So keeping samples of writing, field trip evaluations, and pictures you can show progression through what your state calls a school year. Then next, about gaps. EVERYONE has gaps. However, gaps in the 3 RS- reading, 'riting and arithmetic are the ones that you need to pay more attention to. IF you focus on building a solid foundation in math and language arts then a kid can learn his whole life and be independent. BELIEVE me when I say at the end of journey you'll STILL worry if you taught them everything...BUT don't focus on that, focus on what you CAN DO. Now, also here is another insight---your boxed curriculum may not be a good fit because it's an all in one meaning ALL skills are kept on ONE level and honestly there are not many kids that learn ALL subjects on one level. Some subjects kids struggle in, others they can blow away with mastery. Separating the components of languages arts is key to filling in any weaknesses or helping your child master them. I'm not sure why you chose an all in one, but assuming you have a reason. IF you have to use an all in one, then you can STILL make it work by SKIPPING lessons.. So the way you school year around, is you do what YOU want to do during the summer.. ..PLUS YOUR YEAR may start earlier, and you can save some stuff then to turn in for the reporting.......... I would suggest TWO things to focus on 1) first what skills do you feel your children lag in and do simple exercises to boost their learning. 2) Also do something YOU and YOUR kids LOVE...What is your homeschool missing? More hands-on, more field trips, MORE science.....ADD the FUN to learning... that really is what homeschooling is about. Doing what YOU want to do, and when and for how long.... I hope some of these few tips help♥♥♥

I have struggled with this these past 2 years because of my husband's schedule. He is gone for 2 weeks and home for roughly 5.5 days and repeat. In the elementary years I just set up a schedule for Mon-Sat, off on Sunday and off the "week" that my husband is home but now in middle school, I am finding it too hard to do. Any suggestions would much appreciated.
@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus02 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcella, so great to hear from you. Yes, yes I do have suggestions.. Let me ask a few more questions though so I get a good pulse on your household. I don't want to add stress, but lighten it. Do you have any younger kids? Do you work (in the home or outside)? Is your husband wanting to spend all the time with you and the kids? I'm assuming it's mixed since he probably has other things he wants to do on his off days. Let me know, then I can share a few tips which will be practical...♥♥

@@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus0 we only have one child, age 11. She has been homeschooled all the way through except for preschool. We also have no homeschool groups in our area that we fit into. I do work outside the home but it is very flexible but sporadic schedule. My husband wants to spend as much time as possible with us, this is the main reason I started homeschooling. His schedule used to keep him away for longer. If he does need to go do anything, he takes our daughter or both of us so we can spend a good deal of time together.
@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus02 жыл бұрын
@@Marcylala Ok, love it. Such a clearer pictures. Now, hear my heart! Truly! ♥♥♥ (this is long, but I spread it out so it's easy to read too) See, what can happen is that as homeschool/life changes, we sometimes can be our own worst enemies. It's like I did when I had my second child. I couldn't imagine how folks homeschooled with 10 kids lol, I couldn't even do 1 much less add another child to the mix. lol lol It's crazy sounding I know, but we ALL have been there when it comes to changes. You need a different way of doing things when you add in something else from life or kid, etc (any change basically requires readjusting that is all). Point is you're used to one standard (maybe getting a lot done) because you have one child AND as I've helped many families with "onlies", folks don't realize it's equally exhausting when they're are no other groups, classes or interaction with other kids. It can be tough! With that being said, your circumstances have changed and the time for subjects lasting longer is here too with her age. In addition, you homeschool so that you can be together MORE - this is the MOST important thing of all. So EMBRACE it. Do NOT try to keep your same schedule, but bend to spend time with your hub. ►Here are tips that will help in this time of your journey now!◄ Only apply to the week your husband is home, of course. 1. Create a "rolling to do list" (a shareable document) which you can add to. ( I did this when my first son hit high school and had a varied schedule learning to drive, working, school ......ugg. So much I couldn't control) 2. Create it in a way she can access it quickly AND so that you can add to it. Whatever resource you like that you SHARE! An app, a doc, etc.. I like a Google Document, it's easy to type in and my son always had access and it's on my laptop or tablet and I can access it. 3. Start adding assignments to them in order of importance GENERALLY like this. Math lesson Grammar lesson Spelling lesson So do this first and have it ready with general subjects. 4. Keep them general so she knows what is important to cover first ONE at at time. Closer to the time he is to be there, start looking ahead at where she is on her ►specific assignments◄ and start add them to the list then. Like this: .......Finish spelling lesson 54 .....Edit your writing from lesson 57 5. Point is create a LIST now (a general one) so you have it started and go from GENERAL to SPECIFIC the closer he gets off and is home. 6. Next, the way the list works is that she chooses ONE assignment PER down time🔥 y'all are at home or resting and/or she feels like school. ►►You are NOT planning for the day OR even hour. Just for SHORT moments of time throughout the week.🤔◄◄ When the week starts she has direction already knows which subjects to start with first.🥳 So keep the important subjects first like the skill subjects (or 3 Rs). Those are the hardest to catch up if you get behind. Read more here if this is unclear but it's about prioritizing your time which equals prioritizing subjects👇👇 tinasdynamichomeschoolplus.com/skill-subjects-vs-content-subjects-whats-the-difference/ 7. If there is a LIST there is NO pressure to perform for the day and she will not be aggravated thinking she needs to keep her same routine like she does the other 3 weeks. You don't want to train her to be rigid. Much will come up in her life and she needs a different way to manage it. A list. When that assignment is done cross through the list and work on the next assignment when there is another 30 minute down period. Move on to the list as slow or as fast as your husband is dictating precious time to be with ya'll. Too, help her to understand that it's ROLLING because you're adding things to it as you go along BUT that it is NOT ALL going to be done ONE week or ONE day. This will help her to NOT feel behind BUT see the IMPORTANCE of spending time with HUB. 8. I know you probably already do this since she is an onlie, but plan a "family field trip" for that week. To the museum, to the park, to the beach, etc... So ONE day would be a "field trip" day" and it gives her topics to write about too later.... You've got this! SWITCH TO A Rolling LIST when he is there and it's so obedient and you never feel behind, you just seize moments through the week and move on to the next thing on the list. With the list, you can move things up or down based on how she is feeling and if she needs a mix of subjects. I know this will be much better for you on that week! Hugs too...♥♥

This video is pure gold! This information will improve our unit studies substantially. I love the spine concept. I've always had trouble trying to figure out a unit study for for language arts specifically. Thank you for the links to Amazon! My favorite unit study that we've done so far is with the book A Long Walk to Water. It is rich in social studies - like 'What impact does having sufficient water have on a community?' I had never thought of that before and loved learning about it along with my daughter. There was considerable social information as it is set in Sudan & follows the story of a lost boy of Sudan. That also brought geography into our unit study and math as we mapped out the distance Salva had to travel. And a big eye opener for my daughter was the science about how water purification happens in the US - giving her much more appreciation for what goes into making our water safe before we simply turn on a faucet and watch the water flow. One more ELA activity was writing a letter to Salva to thank him for sharing his inspirational story. Back to your video - a whole new world of unit study richness just graced my homeschool mommy brain - thanks a million!

@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus02 жыл бұрын
Hey Dee, absolutely I can.💜 Now, keep this in mind IF I did my job "right" in the video explaining, :-) but the pages would look JUST LIKE any planning page. ►You can't tell the difference between where I journaled AND where I actually penned in lessons ahead of time◄. My interim pages would just like "uncompleted lesson planning". That is the point, that by the time you've completed your year - you have the framework of what you ACTUALLY did. 😁 NOW, I had several steps to get to this point. As I was learning "how to" I would just used a "red pen check" (I was so teacher-ish then lol)😛😂 to show completed work; that is when I realized what I was doing. That is I was half planning and half journaling in as we went along each day. So this picture is my first beginnings so you can see. It's not perfection but this format is where all my lesson planning page forms came from - True hard work. Too, keep in mind back then I wasn't taking pictures to teach others, but just to learn myself. Bottom line, I want you to see a TRUE work in progress. Here is the link to my google drive to see the two page spread of the beginnings.👇 drive.google.com/file/d/1cWHCvZJVz46NuZUdflWdpoDak1P9hbxF/view?usp=sharing And then look at this AWESOME hardworking lesson planning page which thousands have used because it was based on that system. @@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus0 it absolutely does! Listening to the video I figured it was very similar to how I journal but I was (in my mind) over-complicating it! @TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus02 жыл бұрын
@@dees.8713 I hear ya... That is why I shared it. Simple is best. Organization is about simple not about over complicating. Over planning is a huge mistake and adds to stress and truly NOT be organizing. I always say planning is like cooking. Some days we cook all home made. Sometimes we cook a lot premade, but a lot of the time we mix/max part homemade with some ready made help. It just makes sense in this busy life. Too, by filling in what YOU want your kids do as a framework with ready made lessons you are giving them EXACTLY what they need and have a better pulse on their learning.♥♥

Thank you! I am a member of the group and love it. This year has been tough with state required testing as a homeschool requirement. So, I am so guilty of falling into the whole "checking all the boxes and making us miserable in the process" this year. I am just so focused on making sure my child will know what is going to be on that test. Compared to her natural learning growth that just naturally happens with her in a year... it feels as if we have almost lost a year of learning this year, just trying to focus on that test. UGH.... I need to De-school again! Not an UGH to the De-schooling bit...that is the easy and a great de-stressor. Its an UGH to how I feel now...how I feel this year has gone so far, a complete and utter UGH. Again, thanks, I so need to rehear this.

The beauty of homeschooling is that you can switch your focus immediately to her natural learning curve instead of just the test. Deschooling is something we all constantly have to focus on. Thank you so much for sharing your personal journey. I am going through an experience similar to yours right now and have been feeling out of sorts because it’s been hard to find homeschool mom support with understanding or experience of my situation. I have become the caretaker for my husband after he suffered a brain trauma 7 months ago. It turned our home upside down and from one day to another I am just holding on to faith and prayer to get me through each experience. I feel that the Lord heard my heart and knew I needed to listen to this video tonight. Your list of 4 things to consider cuts to the core of what I’m going through and has given me such hope because at one point I gave it over to my teen to decide if she wanted to go public schooling again or not. I’m so glad now that she chose to stick with us and ride out the storm in our home with us. Everything you said is so true of how tragedy and strain can develop the family dynamics. We are closer, more attentive to one another (not just hubby), and the kids have learned so much about selflessness than I could ever have communicated in a unit study on the subject! I have recently been facing some bouts with caretaker fatigue and have been delaying self care to support my own mental well being. Listening to your message tonight has energized me to try a little harder to find that space in my life to take of me. Thank you for the reminder that this is a temporary setback. Thank you for sharing and for being so transparent. You have richly blessed me! I know I’m not alone. God bless you!

Oh Lisa, your comment brought tears to my eyes..😭🥰.I SOOO understand what you are going through....I didn't add what I'm doing right now which really prompted the video because I felt it was "too much" BUT I'm caretaking a parent right now who will not be getting well. It will be a decline and it's hard to know that.. I'm RIGHT THERE WITH YOU...and yes fatigue to say the least...but I'm so glad you are able to "look beyond" because EVERYTHING has an end. It may not be what we want or it may be, but I have NEVER EVER regretted my kids being alongside me AND "controlling" what I can which is how we respond or rise to the occasion. Yes, yes find that self-care NO MATTER what it looks like...for me many days it can be easy meal prep, getting in bed a bit earlier, or streamlining doctor's visits or even paying for grocery delivery as I can. Even coming here to make this video was a sweet change of pace to my day. Record your thoughts so you can read them later. Thank you! Now I’m curious about which books you and your teens enjoyed so much you didn’t want to “ruin” by analyzing them. 😄 (And I’m going to look into Beautiful Feet.)

Well I have all boys so it was hard because some of my much loved ones at their age were more girl related and my boys did not relate.. But each son was different. One liked Shiloh, Where the Red Fern Grows and Carry on Mr. Bowditch and yet another one loved anything Sherlock Holmes and The Hobbit, Robin Hood and The Hardy Boys. Their love for books are as different as each son. I knew when we started reading whether it was hum drum or a love. Then, I could quickly change to enjoyment if it was loved and piqued their interest..

I chose to homeschool for so many reasons, but I believe it’s flexibility has kept me sane. Seven years a homeschool mom and 10 years a widow. You were sweet to put this out there for us. Thank you. 💕

Beckie LOVE having you here. Well-said for sure. I sooo agree. Flexibility is key. Life will HIT HARD sometimes and you have to know when to bend but not break. You're so welcome for this.. I know others feel the same way and sometimes its hard to discuss in a public way but it's needed.♥♥

Here is the 4th point when the video gets stuck because I didn't want to redo it to make it perfect. Also, as I think about things and mull over, the words are wonky sometimes, but this isn't about perfection. Fourth Point from the video where I cut out👇 4. Homeschooling is all about modeling how I want to my kids to learn meaningful things. What would I be teaching them if I didn’t set the example on what their focus should be when life hits hard? Everything I believe in about the homeschooling lifestyle came full circle. In life, sometimes we need to be a caregiver. I knew their academics wouldn’t be interrupted too long, but my kids’ education reaches far beyond academics. It could appear that I was teaching my kids to be selfish if I only emphasized their academics over the life and health of family members. That is NOT how I wanted my sons to be as young men so I kept that in mind while going through this hard time.

I am always encouraged listening to your videos and reading information your share.Thank you,even if we came to end of our homeschooling journey.The most stressful time was when he did not do his part and when he felt the after math,even now we feel the effect.He has his own woodworking bussines on the side line while preparing for his last year.

Thank you so much for this! Very very helpful. And in a way, just gave me permission to stop stressing so much. My boy has challenges anyway. Then add 3 deaths in a year and some other bad things and things went downhill. Thank you!

Yes, yes big hug....I stressed so much and it's okay because it shows YOU CARE. But healing and then moving ahead SLOWLY until a full schedule works WONDERS. I'm SO VERY sorry about the deaths..I DO understand..that is hard on kids and it's hard to balance healing and then a teen's need to go forward ..So happy to have you here...♥♥

Here are the resources which can give you a framework to keep the load light while your teen recovers. It won't take long until you identify the source of the irritation in your teen, but these will help in the meantime for the skeleton of the SKILL subjects.♥♥ Cut back your curriculum to a SKINNY lady for the sake of you teen right now.. ►1. The Language Mechanic: Tuning Up English With Logic, Grades 4-7 amzn.to/3qKAUaV (Amazon Affiliate Link: I LOVE when you buy through me, but more important to me is for you to see what is available to help you.) ►2. Quick Study Guides. amzn.to/32MhudH (Amazon Affiliate Link: I LOVE when you buy through me, but more important to me is for you to see what is available to help you.) Know that there are all TYPES of guides. But these flip charts are unintimidating and a good resource for your teen to also keep/put in a notebook or binder. There are ones for science and history too so that your teen can have a change or add some spice to the day while you're working on his/her motivation. Refer to it, learn it, and move on. In a nutshell, the Quick Study Guides helps your teen to not sigh about what he does not know, but gives him knowledge in tiny morsels until he gets up and running. ►3. Key to series for math by Key Curriculum Pres. amzn.to/3ETxIii (Amazon Affiliate Link: I LOVE when you buy through me, but more important to me is for you to see what is available to help you.) The Key to series has been around for a long time and there is a good reason. These nifty worktext like booklets (no fluff) are all based on ONE skill in math. Isolate the struggle in math that is making your teen feel like less and give it 100 percent attention by finding the right set of books. The concepts start off basic in Book 1 and work up to higher concepts. This is IT, this is all that is needed for now for the basic skills! Do NOT spend tons of money while you're trying to fix the root cause. Add in some KZbin videos if your child is a visual learner and keep your day stress free while your student gets back his mojo! Your teen will thank you when he gets out in the "real world" LOL Don't you love that statement..lol Seriously hang in there... And of course, I'm here for you as you have questions!!

Thankyou for this. I have stage 4 cancer and was diagnosed after our 5 children married. My last two have taken care of me with groceries and all the extras. But for 3 years we are trying to make up work. I feel so bad for him. It’s not his fault. None of us saw this coming. Thank you for your help. What writing curriculum were you mentioning for English?
@TinasDynamicHomeschoolPlus03 жыл бұрын
@@allysunrise0202 Hugs Dawn, just no fair when life hits like that, but how beautiful when your last two kids step up. I'm convinced the hard times we have been through made my kids more resilient ..I'm not sure which grade level you're asking about, but I used The Language Mechanic: Tuning Up English With Logic, Grades 4-7 amzn.to/3qKAUaV Instead of focusing on just one element of language arts, I wanted to be sure he had a good grasp of many concepts and this book spanned several grade levels and concepts and isn't baby-ish which is a huge turn off as you probably know. But too, I've used Evan Moor daily paragraph to get back his mojo before I moved on to more formal writing curriculum. These are the "chicken soup" tips♥ Please take care of yourself, I soooo understand about not seeing it coming but I promise you even small tiny steps ahead IS forward motion...and then kids can take the reins too Hang in there and happy to have you here...
