Thank you so much for sharing your personal journey. I am going through an experience similar to yours right now and have been feeling out of sorts because it’s been hard to find homeschool mom support with understanding or experience of my situation. I have become the caretaker for my husband after he suffered a brain trauma 7 months ago. It turned our home upside down and from one day to another I am just holding on to faith and prayer to get me through each experience. I feel that the Lord heard my heart and knew I needed to listen to this video tonight. Your list of 4 things to consider cuts to the core of what I’m going through and has given me such hope because at one point I gave it over to my teen to decide if she wanted to go public schooling again or not. I’m so glad now that she chose to stick with us and ride out the storm in our home with us. Everything you said is so true of how tragedy and strain can develop the family dynamics. We are closer, more attentive to one another (not just hubby), and the kids have learned so much about selflessness than I could ever have communicated in a unit study on the subject! I have recently been facing some bouts with caretaker fatigue and have been delaying self care to support my own mental well being. Listening to your message tonight has energized me to try a little harder to find that space in my life to take of me. Thank you for the reminder that this is a temporary setback. Thank you for sharing and for being so transparent. You have richly blessed me! I know I’m not alone. God bless you!

Oh Lisa, your comment brought tears to my eyes..😭🥰.I SOOO understand what you are going through....I didn't add what I'm doing right now which really prompted the video because I felt it was "too much" BUT I'm caretaking a parent right now who will not be getting well. It will be a decline and it's hard to know that.. I'm RIGHT THERE WITH YOU...and yes fatigue to say the least...but I'm so glad you are able to "look beyond" because EVERYTHING has an end. It may not be what we want or it may be, but I have NEVER EVER regretted my kids being alongside me AND "controlling" what I can which is how we respond or rise to the occasion. Yes, yes find that self-care NO MATTER what it looks like...for me many days it can be easy meal prep, getting in bed a bit earlier, or streamlining doctor's visits or even paying for grocery delivery as I can. Even coming here to make this video was a sweet change of pace to my day. Record your thoughts so you can read them later. Hugs again from me to you as I wish I could be there in person to do that too and so happy you're here..

I chose to homeschool for so many reasons, but I believe it’s flexibility has kept me sane. Seven years a homeschool mom and 10 years a widow. You were sweet to put this out there for us. Thank you. 💕

Beckie LOVE having you here. Well-said for sure. I sooo agree. Flexibility is key. Life will HIT HARD sometimes and you have to know when to bend but not break. You're so welcome for this.. I know others feel the same way and sometimes its hard to discuss in a public way but it's needed.♥♥

Here is the 4th point when the video gets stuck because I didn't want to redo it to make it perfect. Also, as I think about things and mull over, the words are wonky sometimes, but this isn't about perfection. Fourth Point from the video where I cut out👇 4. Homeschooling is all about modeling how I want to my kids to learn meaningful things. What would I be teaching them if I didn’t set the example on what their focus should be when life hits hard? Everything I believe in about the homeschooling lifestyle came full circle. In life, sometimes we need to be a caregiver. I knew their academics wouldn’t be interrupted too long, but my kids’ education reaches far beyond academics. It could appear that I was teaching my kids to be selfish if I only emphasized their academics over the life and health of family members. That is NOT how I wanted my sons to be as young men so I kept that in mind while going through this hard time.
