As for the job market, yes, it's getting tougher everywhere including in the US given the moribund economic situation but it's worse in Germany. That country is disindustrializing (e.g. VW, Bosch, etc. closing and moving plants abroard). So, more and more people are out of work.

Best point is #3: Tech skills is over-rated. Talking and BSing skills are more useful for climbing the ladder.

I got my certification as data scientist yesterday 🎉 I am in that phase of doing projects and building a portfolio. I would prefer to start in small or mid size companies (I dislike the elbowing of big companies) BUT I believe that in smaller companies you have to know/do more. My plan is to learn MLops next year. Is this laptop good to go or should invest for 128 gb ram m4 max configuration for above or should I use cloud for higher computation?
