Be careful. Anywhere you go you have to be learning every time. I am in Medicine and we have to learn and be up to date every time

Apart from India parts of the USA, not worthwhile unless you have a related or logically related supporting background. ie. swe looking to add DS or full /part PhD, strong transferable STEM background ML savvy knowledgeably candidate i.e. Physics/maths stats.... another issue is the lack of careers progression and pay doesn't reflect the vast skillset and continual learning required/and often unreasonably expected.....

Hey, what about India?

I was learning Data science in 2020/2021 but noticed most of the jobs then required MSc, and I had no plans of pursing my education. So I dropped out of the field to pursue a career in Cloud. Plus, Data engineering is an all-inclusive package that comes with Data science. Most Data scientsit that work with top companies are mostly researchers that design and release ML models. If you think you can just Pytorch your way to data science (learn the basics), then you would have a hard time making headsway.

Actually MSc is kind of entry level.😂

@@newafricanforum if Africa, specifically South Africa, that is not the case, if you have masters and PhD is like a potential threat to most folks trying to higher you. I have experienced that personally.

@ayorinde5782 no offense but I think in Africa we don't have many roles for data science. South Africa might be an exception, parts of SA economy is akin to the west. And yes I had a friend in cape town who had hard time finding a job in the tourism industry after majoring in tourism because most tourism operators bosses themselves don't have degrees. But in research institutions, which where most data science graduates are likely to work, a master is still the minimum requirement. I worked for the fisheries research institute in Cape Town back in the days. Most scientists had PhDs and those with no PhDs where either considered junior or technicians. Having said that, there are companies that advertise the good old database roles as data engineer or even scientists, which require just mastering SQL and nothing more. For those u don't need postgraduate qualifications

Thank you. Please is this the same with Data Analyts or Only Data Scientists?
@ndositwechizimbi72994 ай бұрын
It's the same, as a Data Scientist can generally do a Data Analyst's job because Data Science encompasses many of the tasks that analysts perform. A Data Scientist may even approach a Data Analyst's tasks in more advanced ways due to their broader skill set. This means that if Data Scientist positions are filled, they can take on Analyst roles if available. Data Analytics is like looking at a big pile of information (data) to find answers and patterns that help people make decisions. The focus is on analyzing existing data to extract insights for decision-making. On the other hand, Data Science is more specialized and advanced. It’s like using a crystal ball and smart tools to predict what will happen in the future, based on what you already know (which comes from data analytics). It works with all kinds of data and helps create new ways of solving problems. Data Science is broader, involving predictive modeling, machine learning, and advanced programming to forecast trends and innovate.

I would presume so. I would actually say maybe the whole tech field in General.

Can't say. Pls do what makes you happy. I'm sure Back end and Front end development would have its own challenges.

Hi, Apologies, but I didn't mean to be negative. I just thought to present the scenario as it is and infact I gave what are my possible solutions to the problems.
