I've seen 14 grain of blue dot and 800x in standard 45 acp brass. So the case is capable of high pressures. I've always wondered why the 45 acp was such a low pressure round. Some hollow points won't even open up. I picked up some really good bargains on acp ammo that was under powered and just reload them with a few more grains. Then the hollow points perform correctly. The 45 Super and 450SMC range is perfect with minor adjustments to the firearm. A lot of the 460 rowland loads are great too. The higher power loads require a few more mods but totally doable.

OMG! This was 12 years ago, so I'm not writing to get a free hat. Great video and I was surprised to discover that the MEC SIZEMASTER was in fact a single-stage reloader. I just recently acquired an MEC Jr. in 20 GA, and I'm in the process of setting this up in my reloading room. At any rate, my guess is that CCI 209, was easier to seat and was designed for progressive reloaders. They had some issues igniting certain powders, and I also think they were used primarily for in-line muzzleloaders.

I noticed that the hammer spring assembly pooped out fairly easily - isn't there a guide nut that is crimped to the back of the assembly that would keep it from coming out?

Hoppes ! I was trying to word what cleaner or lubricant will turn to varnish and harden over time. Hoppes. In defense, this skb 870 clone, didnt seem to have a box of shells through it, took work to disassemble, then cleaned and unsiezed bolt and firing pin. 25 yr old gun is brand new. Sorry, theres a touch of brag. Moo bad

So I just bought a rock Island the other day m 1911 a1 should I leave my adjustment screw alone because I’ve never messed with it and I am very happy with the way my gun shoots but if there’s something happening in there that can cause undue wear I would like to solve it now

Get proficient at skeet, and you can do well on any clay target discipline. It’s also why sporting clay shooters typically don’t like skeet. That’s just a personal observation. 🤔😀

I like guys like you who are too busy actually 'doing' and thinking while you're at it, to be a "Full of BS Wannabe". My friend DonnE is breaking into the exploding field of reloading and I believe you offer many excellent tidbits regarding subtle reloading details which should help him stay safe while enjoying working up his own excellent roundage. I'll subscribe and pass along this link to him. 👍😎

Late to the party but still would like to give my 2 cents... First of all, thank you for the very detailed to the point explanation. It's excellent and it's truly mamdatory instruction for anyone wishing to toy with these mods for higher pressure shooting, Secondly; the bulges on the cases as I'm sure you notice, are ahead of the reinforced area of the case near the primer, in fact they are a few millimetres into the body. This is due to high pressures activating the slide while the cartridge hasnt fully consumed all its powder. In a 1911 one way to remedy that early slide action is to install a flat bottom firing pin stop which delays the rearward movement of the slide, creates a more complete, cleaner ignition with less escape of gas if any. This results in slightly higher bullet speed because of the more complete ignition and the delay of the slide rearward movement protects the case longer, thus eliminating the case bulges. If you're familiar with this, please accept my apology. Many other shooting enthusiasts may learn something. In changing to a flat bottom firing pin stop in a gun dedicated to the 460 Rowland, I've increased the speed of my reloads by about 40 fps without changing anything else. Another advantage is that the rear action of the slide being slowed, a less strong recoil spring can generally be used which in turn doesnt slam the slide as hard when returning to battery, contributing to a longer life of the frame if one shoots hot loads regularly. It's a win win situation. Thanks for the great videos. I really enjoy them and shoot the same calibers that you do and learn a lot as I go along. Happy Thanksgiving !!

I have a RIA 45 that has only one mag that will drop free of gun empty when mag release is pushed. When I got it, (used) it come with 3 mags original one extra 7rd and one 10rd. Even bought a Wilson combat mag. They will not drop free when empty seems to drag or stick on the sides inside handle just below top of mag. Contacted armscorp apparently my gun uses 8rd mag not 7rd. So now got 3 maps that really not of use.

I bought one of the damn things. First clue I had that there was a problem was when they included a spare priming arm! Uhhhhhhh.... maybe you KNOW it is going to break? Good engineering??? Well, I loved Dillon and casually met Mike a couple times and gave it a try. Very disappointing. I'll find that primer that flew across the garage someday, I'm sure. Sent the whole thing back.
