I have an lcd steam deck running windows 11 pro and I was able to use the steam drivers and everything works. The WiFi was an easy fix through device management and going to properties to change the wireless adapter options to work with modern WiFi. Also I play all call of duty’s on medium to high settings and getting 45fps. GTA V gives me 45fps on high settings. Not sure if the community drivers make it worse. I even play No Man Sky with medium to high settings and star citizen on low settings.
@WestinEast24 күн бұрын
@@mchardon83 I think the biggest regret of mine is not at least trying the stock drivers because I figured the community ones would be better - I think if I ever come back to the steam deck maybe with a steam deck 2 launch I would need to do a more comprehensive guide on all of it. If your receiver has arc or earc you should plug all your consoles, or media playback devices into your tv then use 1 hdmi cable from the earc or arc tv out to the out earc or arc on your receiver. It all the cables in the receiever and also gives uncompressed sound. Pcm is probly your best option. I saw your receiever and i think i have the same one, the str-dn1060. I use arc with 1 hdmi cable from my tv and its perfect. Just a suggestion.

The whole buying lower TDP parts because of the electric bill rhetoric is so stupid, you save maybe a dollar or two a month and sacrifice a lot of performance. As for the heat output, if you buy appropriate cooling for said higher TDP components then you can afford this, unless you’re going mini ITX
@WestinEast3 ай бұрын
@@Boofski again, those points are fair, however heat generated by these component's doesn't just go away when they're cooled off. It gets dumped into your room. Not to mention you have two options: overkill expensive cooling OR loud fans and poor thermal performance. Lastly, there is no excuse for the i9 14900k only being able to match the 7800x3d but using 2x the power. It's not that big of a concern but again literally no one talks about it, and no one seems to care. More wattage = more better is outdated and dumb and I wish more people could see it that way.
@Boofski3 ай бұрын
@@WestinEast the 14900k outperforms the 7800x3d by a lot, you know there’s more you can do with a PC than just gaming right? The 14900k has 3 times the cores so of course it has a higher wattage, and the max wattage used is far from being 2 times as high I don’t know where you got that number.

Who’s the best company or person to fix the red light? (Original ps3 w memory card slots)
@WestinEast4 ай бұрын
@@meansled You have to determine the cause to answer that - Most likely it's a scenario where the GPU is cooked and therefore you have to have the procedure done to swap the old rsx with a new one from a newer slim PlayStation, and I paid about $400 for that. But there is a million reasons why it happens, so as a regular person who isn't trying to do an insanely expensive project, just get a PS3 slim for like 100 bucks off eBay and it'll last forever because it has effectively none of these problems

The original fan pulls in fresh air from bellow the ps3 and through routes in the aluminum clampshell from the top of the ps3. The psu especially can get very toasty depending on what version you have due to its efficiency. I would make sure to pull air through the exhaust to keep some cool air making it through the ps3. You could also put an intake where the memory card reader is in front of the psu with some noctua fans aswell but thats probably overkill on this whole thing already.
@WestinEast5 ай бұрын
@@jet613 I put those 2 40mm noctua fans blowing into the exhaust on the rear, and while this is enough to keep it from exploding even in ps2 mode (since the emotion engine no longer has direct cooling). However, it's clear that this is the biggest oversight on my part. One thing I was going to do but never did was cut a hole in the bottom and put a thin fan on the inside of the chassis to blow air directly in/onto the clamshell. I also have to cool the power supply somehow because I'm sure that it's going to die if I'm not careful - the plastic case was melted when I got it and I have half a mind to believe it was due to this PSU. Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching!

I have a v1 switch I modded and it's amazing. You can't quite lock every game at 60 FPS. But you can with some or at least get close. Even 40ish fps is better than 30. Skyrim is mostly stable 60 FPS indoors and caves. Around 40's outside. That and with a few graphics mods installed it looks way better than you think it would on switch.
