What I want a concrete answer to is, are the issues fixed? I know the OG Pan Ams had a lot of issues up until 22s, into the 23s it seemed to be getting better. I'm wondering if they've unf*cked the issues in 2024? Havent really heard anything, which is good. I keep looking at used since I can find 22s and sometimes 23s for 14-17,000 canadian, usually with low KMs, often under 2000kms. that sounds awesome on paper, but it also suggests losts of people had so many issues in those low KMs that they said screw it and trade for something else. Nearest dealership for me is 2.5 hours away, or 5 hours to get to Edmonton..... Its bad enough to have issues and need to get a bike across town. Living in northern alberta the roads are terrible, and this bike checks a lot of boxes for me. I really want it to be good lol One major factor is Payload as me and the wife together are around 440 lbs, which is pushing the limits but doable. Africa twin is just under 400 and I'm uneasy about pushing the limits too much. Thanks in advance
@ridingwithmarshall2 күн бұрын
They fixed the charging circuit and battery issues. I don't think they did anything about the Fuel pump though. As far as two-up capacity, there are few bikes set up anymore for two-up other than glides and Goldwings. My wife and I easily exceed 450lbs.
@CROCS.fit1232 күн бұрын
@@ridingwithmarshall the struggle is real. I read a REALLY well written break down on the PAS year by year. Seems the fuel pump issues are speculated to be from the aluminum tank not being lined on the inside causing issues clogging up the pump(s). Like I said I really really wanna like this bike, but i cant be getting stranded, and if I might have to trade in my current bike, thus not having a back up would suck even more. And with the glise and road king going up in price*AGAIN in the case of the RK* they might be out.... We've got endless dirt roads up here, and some moderate ATV trails galore. Thats why a Big ADV checks a lot of boxes for me. If I get something like a Honda valkyrie, then I can get a mid sized ADV as Ill have a big ole bike to go on rides with the wife. But i DO want to get off the beaten trails too. the Tiger 1200 has an insanely high weight capacity and comes ready to rock, but its also 30 grand lol
@ridingwithmarshall2 күн бұрын
@@CROCS.fit123 that is why I bought a Moto-Guzzi V85TT for off road. It was 11k I think, and I've been all over the northern Rockies of Colorado with it. I also have a dealer nearby though. Not nearly as powerful as the PA, but comfortable. I was riding dirt roads around my house yesterday. The Tiger 900 would be a good catch too. As far as Africa Twins, only one person I know that bought one still has it. I bought a used Goldwing to get my wife to Sturgis this year. No video, as my Sturgis videos seldom get any viewers.

What timing, I just bought a Classic this morning. 🤣 I agree with you on the peanut tank, but I needed something lighter. I got a bum right leg. Worst part to me was the rock seat. I put an Air Hawk on it when I got home and it was wonderfully comfy if hideous as those tend to make bikes. Didn't notice any heat, but it was only 60F out. The one drawback is this tech garbage. I could have done w/o it, but was required to get one in the red. For whatever reason, the screen turned off on the ride home. Lovely. After I put the Air Hawk on and went for another ride, the screen was back in working order, though using the button to switch between Nav Music Speedo, it changed the format of the speedo sometimes. Other times flipping thru it it wouldn't. Who tests this software? That complaint aside, the screen does look nice and has a lot of info when it instantiates the nicer of the speedo displays.

Hello Marshall. Great video, with some nice looking women interspersed. I have a motorcycle collection of 24 bikes in three different buildings. I have eight GoldWings, from 1975 to 2018. (yes I have the motorcycle cancer very bad). In 2021 I came across and bought a red ‘15 anniversary model Valk with matching Corbin bags and seat, 4615 miles, for $10k otd. I totally agree with all your points. You hit the nail on the head about the design. I have period motorcycle magazines from 13, 14 and 15, and articles explain the lead designer was given free rein. The two big side radiators had to remain., so the designer did go for the about-to-leap bull look. I researched windshields, and went with a MadStad. Works great, I highly recommend you look into one of those if you get another. My main gripes with my bike: -the Corbin saddlebags are well-made, match the bike pretty well, but have little interior room. It will work as a weekend trip bike, and runs to the store for items are great, but that’s it. -I’m 6’1” tall, so I do not have issues with the handlebar reach, but the foot peg position is slightly cramped, like you said. Also, I can barely get my foot under the gear shifter, which makes it a pain to change gears. I have not yet removed enough plastic to see if there is an adjustment. -I love the grunty first gear, but it sure does need a sixth gear, just like all the GEN five GoldWings. 3000 rpm at 70 is ridiculous with such a huge motor. Honda did fix this with the 2018+ models. My manual shift six speed ‘18 turns just a little over 2000 RPM at 70 which is much nicer. Btw, I’ve put over 2700 miles on other sixth gen Wings with the DCT, and I don’t care for it. -the lack of a cruise control is becoming almost a make or break issue with me. So nice to set it and relieve your throttle hand. I have throttle locks mounted on several of my bikes, which helps but it’s just not the same. I bought a new ‘23 Harley.Softail Anniv Edition last year, and other than the lack of smooth power, I find myself preferring this. Better ride, more comfortable seating position, good handling, Bags have more usable room, and a million accessories available for it. The big 114 motor has plenty of power, and upgrades are available to take it way past the Valk. But a Harley will never be as reliable and ease of maintenance as a Honda GoldWing. A final point. When you own several bikes (or a fleet/collection) It’s not the new shoes (tires) that are a problem. It’s batteries. You can only ride one bike at a time, so once all of your bikes have fairly new tires, it will be a while before you change them because you now spread your riding to all your bikes to give them attention. The batteries, however, have a limited shelf life, whether you are riding them or not. I have about six battery tenders that I move around to different bikes to keep everything fresh and rideable. Still, l’m installing a new battery about every three months. Also, I try to put my bikes away with Pure Gas, to keep the alcohol demons away. I enjoyed your video, sir. PM me on FB if you wanna talk motorcycles and share tips and advice.

Spot on on all accounts. I went with liqu Moly, 15 W 50 motorcycle oil on my last change. Cost me right around $90 between the oil and the filter. Liqui Moly is a decent oil and I don’t foresee having any issues. I’ve had this bike, to different events and the Harley Bros just don’t know what to make of it. Definitely causes them to scratch their heads and wanna go rev their motorcycles. I’ve been several different triumphs in my riding career. My last bike was a Bonneville T120. You are correct when you say that this bike will ruin you for others. It is by far the best handling most power, most comfortable, and most head turning bike I’ve ever owned. Just ordered an IXIL exhaust and looking forward to a little bit more noise in those wonderful pops on deacceleration.

Great video! I own a black one just like yours (and have my own channel where I post videos on it). All the weaknesses you pointed out are accurate. But, I still love the bike. I've added just about every accessory one could want to make it more comfortable and practical. I plan to keep it for a long time, and if I ever were to upgrade, it would ONLY be to a Gold Wing. I can't think of any other bike that would interest me to own as my only bike.

I've had a Bonneville T100 since 2009 with now 29K. Triumph Owner's handbook lists Mobil 1 4T 10W/40 or 15W/50 oil. A few years later (?) the Triumph dealerships changed to Castrol 4T 10W/50. I live on the East Coast/Mid Atlantic and Cycle Gear stores do stock Castrol 4T 10W/50. I once drove a 1 1/2 hour round trip Saturday Afternoon to finish an oil change I was one quart short. Now I buy/have bought the 6 quart box of Castrol 4T 10W/50 on Amazon usually in the mid $50-60 price range plus the filter not exceeding $75 so far. Oil also works great in the 4 cycle leaf blower hence the 1 quart shortage. Great video! I've sat on the 3 GT at the local dealership and it does feel good. But, I just put a new clutch in my '08 T100 at 28.5K and the bike is still a great option for me. I agree I want cruise control, heated grips? and the chain lube is getting old. When and if I finally wear out my '08 T100, like you, a slightly used bike ('22 or later T120) would be a great replacement.

@ridingwithmarshallАй бұрын
@@joebouchard3585 That's a great question Joe. Not all quick-shifters are good. Some will let you upshift but not downshift. Some will do both well, but only above 2cd or 3rd gear. All of them rely on meshing the gears at the right time. The E-clutch allows you to shift from N up, and has no denial issues if the gears aren't perfectly ready for a change.
@jimanders9971Ай бұрын
One of the first things I did on my 2020GT was get the mid range pegs, those and the quick shifter were the best additions I have made. Oil? I buy Quicksilver full synthetic motorcycle oil from Amazon for about 12 bucks a quart. My windshield is a Madstad and it does a great job and also easy to install, I also have the Triumph panniers so you pop them on and you are ready to tour, With the Rocket you can play with the sports bikes and cruise with the touring bikes. Oh, the heat. I has a Harley Ultra for a while and that bike generates much more heat for the rider than the Rocket does. And I am not talking about 90 degree heat but in over 110 degree heat. The power? I have over 88,000 miles on my 2020 Rocket and I still get the stupid grin on my face when I peg the throttle and run through the gears with the quick shifter, lol. Just getting on the freeway is a hoot.
