This doesn't look like your loading 300 savage in that. I own 2 model 99s in 300 savage and every box of ammo I've ever bought it looks more like a 308 cartridge 😅

One of the most expensive and most high quality guns winchester ever produced along with the 1895. If you were rich this was one of the guns to have.

Seems like the bigger powder charge brought your round ball accuracy up @ 50 yrds. Just adjust them elevations. Just got an old (~1970) Spanish made Hawken style rifle. No CVA markings but very close with the "yellow" stock. 50 cal. I was brainstorming what kind of load would be good. I was thinking about 45-70, 50-70, 50-90 cartridges, etc. Anyone load a ~400 grain lead non-hollowpoint conical?? Was looking at the Montana Precision Swaged Cast Bullets Flat Point on Midway USA. Would 3F powder work on a 50 cal, or is 3F powder too fast to move a heavy slug?? Any improvements with Magnum Nipples/Caps?? Thanks for the input.

Why do you A holes insist on shooting one eye closed? I guess if you don't shoot much you don't care or just not smart enough.

I have the same rifle without the checkering Just shot a 1/4 inch group with my handholds. 117 grain hornady round nose bullets and H4350 powder. I was shocked at how well this rifle shoots for being 72 years old.

These rifles get no love from the elite sporting community. However, having owned one since 12 years old, and having fired all weights of pills (39 Hornady and 50 Federal some of my favorites), this little jewel hits on target, and no error. I switched out the trigger for something lighter and tighter, and this darling Marlin never fails to perform . Some would say clunky and crude, and they might be right. Fit and finish are meh in some respects, but old girl got it where it counts. I can hit 1 to 1.5 MOA at 300 yards with Federal 50 grain pills all day long with that wonderful barrel (and that replacement trigger). My Marlin 783 will always be my "go to" for heavy varmints out to and including 300 yards with those gorgeous Federal 50 grain pills.

Don’t mean to step on your toes but your rifle actually rolled off production line in June of 1953 but the very first 722 was produced in 1948 . The P = June and the ZZ = 1953 I own a 722 chambered in .222 REM and it’s marked PYY which was June of 1952 hope this information helps you with your rifle a little more !! GOD BLESS

Why would the bag touching the stud effect it ?
@ReloaderJoeАй бұрын
According to some commenters, the recoil snagging the stud on the bag could cause poor accuracy.

The barrel expands with the heat. The trick is to wait 15 minutes between shots. This gives the barrel time to retract from the heat. The first shot is the one that really counts when you are hunting. Please remember that. It's the cold bore shot that counts ! If I were you, I would definitely stick with the winchester super x 180 grain power points.

I have one of these. Shoots so flat you can easily hit way far off with it. The upper half of it is great. The lower half is absolute garbage. Terrible trigger, terrible ergonomics. I kinda want to make a CAD project out of designing a new polymer lower and double stack mag for it.

Does PPU still use corrosive primer in their ammo? how do you clean your rifle aftert PPU
@anthonyelkins2127Ай бұрын
PPU uses standard boxer primers these days. Ammo may not be as clean burning as ADI powders, but as long as rifle is cleaned properly post firing, all is well.

It appears that Bethesda does aware that 'rifles' using .45 ACP rounds exists after all. so 'Combat Rifle' in Fallout 4 uses .45 ACP rounds at default. it can be converted to use .308 later on.
