Hello Sir! Your results are perfectly correct. At 50 you hit 4" right. This doubled to 8" at double the distance (100 yards). And if you were hitting dead centre at 100, no surprise to hit dead centre at 25 again. But: at 25 yards you have to adjust your scope 4 x the click value that is written on your turrets (.5" at 100 yards). To move the POI .5" at 25 yards you need 4 x .5" . Best regards! K.

Thanks for the video - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that can burn up close to twenty rounds on a sight in. True that you couldn't bore sight it nor did you have a laser sighter. As for the moving 4" @ 50 and then 8" @ 100 to the right after the initial 25 yards center shot it could have been that the adjustment could have been stuck and then came lose (moved) just prior to the 50 yard shot. Some say that after you make an adjustment to tap the top of the turret to make sure there is nothing sticking. Anyway, it certainly is sighted in now. I have that same Marlin 336 only it is a Centennial 1970 edition. It's a fun gun to shoot.

@@cervus-venator It' very easy. Just remove the screw that holds the lever, move the lever so the bolt moves backwards, pull out bolt & don't loose the ejector which is on the left side of the receiver and now you can clean your barrel and receiver as well as boresight. Reinstall the ejector - it only goes in one way.

Nice rifle I have a Marlin 336 in 444 Marlin. I've used Skinner sights for years. Before that the iron sights that came with the rifle. I did put a scope on a year or so ago. Now I can hit 200 yards consistently. I usally shoot at paper although freezing in a tree stand for a deer is not fun anymore. I rather hunt rabbits with shotguns and Beagles. I think I'm the only one who never had a 30-30. When I was a young soldier in the early to mid eighties I purchased a lot of milsurp rifles all bolt action American and German. Cheap and in great condition. I served thirty years 12 in the Ranger Regiment. I retired in 2010. My M1 rifles are my favorite. I have a good collection of rifles and shotguns and lots of ammo. I Also purchased a M1A a Ruger Mini thirty and Mini 14 they all remind me of M1 rifles.. Thanks for the video this is the second time I've commented on your channel. I also have a Henry Big Boy in 357/38 special. Funny how you were all over the place the good groups did you mix up the ammo. I think I have enough guns to last. People often underestimate the Marlin 336, 30-30 accuracy. But often people do not investigate which ammo and weight is the most accurate for their particular rifle. After experimenting with mine, I lucked out. It is the most accurate with one of the least expensive and easiest to find ammo on the market. The good ole Remington 170 gr. Core Lokt. Outstanding rifle/scope set up on that 336. Just perfect. And with that Rem Mod 722, you have two of the most iconic rifles ever made. Since there was two of you doing the sight in, you could have done the sight in method of moving the cross hairs to the POI which done correctly is done the easiest with two people. However, with ony a 4 x scope, that would have been difficult at 50yds and almost impossible at 100yds. Those 4x Leupold scopes are great scopes.

The older scopes used friction adjustments. No clicks just a dial to turn with a coin. I think since my 25 yard shot wasn't EXACTLY in the center of the bulls eye, just being off center by a half inch or less was enough to drift the bullet. The adjustments on these old scopes are 1/2 moa so I'm pretty sure it was all on the scope. But now that it's good, I'm not touching it. It must be a pretty flat shooting load because i didn't have to make any elevation adjustments from 25 to 50 to 100 yards, and even back to 25 at the end.
