" No moving parts " !! Why “ no moving parts ” ? The world now wants a thing be without electricity because electricity is not always available and expensive. the “ moving parts ” are what make things not only simple and efficient, but effective, reliable and long-lasting as well.

Green Ammonia has nothing to do in the energie sector. Also its precursor, green hydrogen has nothing to do there. Around the world, about 100 mio tons of hydrogen are used every year. Practically all of it is consumed in vicinity of the souce. Dr. Haber and Dr, Bosch already knew the transporting it is a stupid idea. Amongst the 100 mio, 35 mio tons H2 are used for the Haber Bosch. Yield, close to 100%. There is no other way to ammonia. As all the possible ways hydrogen can be used in the energy sector are extremely wasteful, the figures go down to 30% efficiency only. This field is off limits for green Hydrogen. As there is practically no relevant green Hydrogen today, >0,5 of the total. All the green hydrogen must be forbidden to use in the energy sector. By the way, as the difference between 100 mio and 35 mio tons H2, goes to the refining sector and the chemical industry, unly fools would burn it. A last word to ammonia as a source of energie. The Haber Bosch process is the single most energy consumer on earth. It burns 2% of all primary ernergie. The process energy for 1 kg of geen ammonia is 12 KWh. But if the burn it you will get 5,1 Kwh only. And the dear lady with her cells will not obtain even 4 KW/kg. So she is wasting 8 KWh/kg.

The fuel cell produces water as a byproduct. This water can then be used to release more powerpaste. So you probabaly don't need to carry much water. Edit: Nevermind. I saw the slide with the specific energy. The drone carries 3.4kg of paste and 7.5 kg of water. The total system specific energy is terribly low. This will never even approach the best hydrocarbon-based systems.

NEL: The Mother of All Hydrogen Hype Unfortunately, I've owned NEL, the dead, bloated cow of a "hydrogen stock," since 2019. . . An investment in NEL is just throwing money (and altruistic climate change objectives) down the drain. After all their hype and BS, they have less than 100 MW of installed capacity worldwide. None of it operates on a remotely competitive, non-subsidized basis. Look at their inside trading! Look at their historical press releases. NEL is like a bus being driven backward down a busy street by Greta Thornburg. NEL is not a rational business platform. Rather, it is a silly pie-in-the-sky notion put forth by bored beneficiaries of the Norwegian Pension Fund that needed to distract themselves. Oh God, somebody shoot this stock, please. Just look at its utterly miserable performance since day 1. Why doesn't Nel's CEO, Håkon Volldal, talk about scalar delivery and realistic CapEx and OpEx per Watt delivered? Because he can't. Oil & Gas inventories are expected to peak in 2030, putting downward pressure on conventional fuel and ammonia prices. These hapless Norwegians imitating businessmen don't have a clue. Most ironically, even if they had their act together, nobody (and I mean nobody) knows how to contain, transport and utilize H2 in an economically plausible way to do recall work like propel a truck or a car. This company is practically speaking a giant farce positioned on climate change alarmism. Looking at your stock price and negative earnings since inception, how's that working for you, Mr. CEO Håkon Volldal?

Interesting discussion. I don't really understand hydrogen carriers. Liquid ammonia has far more energy per liter than liquid hydrogen. The nitrogen bonds have energy you don't want to toss out. Once you have green ammonia I expect people will just use ammonia. There seems to few cases where you would convert green ammonia back into green hydrogen at the end of a supply chain.

Definitely this is the future, methanol liquid fuel to fuel methanol fuel cell (and then electric motor without battery with way longer range and "rechargable" by refueling liquid methanol in just a minute just like any diesel engine. This is the future, better than "normal hydrogen" because methanol is a liquid fuel directly and easy derived from green hydrogen and way better usable than hydrogen because no need compression pressure storage and or ultra low temperature needed. Methanol liquid room temperature fuel is just a drop replacements in any gas station with little modification and same happens even with combustion engine but obviously fuel cell Ev gives more efficiency .

You forgot one important issue. In order to manufacture the methanol, you need CO2 besides the hydrogen. The CO2 must be green too, namely biogenic.This means that you must suck the CO2 from the air or to capture it from some burned biomass. The CO2 atmospheric concentration is very low (400 ppm) so you need a concentrated flue gas in order to be efficient.Not so easy though.

I agree besides the fact that for short-medium range (say, less than 100 km per day) electric vehicles with decently small batteries (~20-25 kWh of capacity) are still optimal for private passenger transportation. For everything else, i.e. long range private transport, freight transportation, airplanes and sea shipping (where batteries are not possible or practical) a methanol fuel cell propulsion is the way to go
@Alessandro-1977
@Alessandro-1977 6 ай бұрын
@@dalsenovthere is a much easier way, as thoroughly described by the Swedish university of Lund, consisting of biomass gasification and conversion of CO and H2 in liquid methanol (with or without external hydrogen input). kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWKpdWyvoriEm7csi=knvCFy5cMovKzV0Q That way you convert 60% to 80% of the energy of (dry) biomass into methanol, so that you can produce one tonn of methanol from one tonn of dry biomass to replace in a methanol fuel cell one tonn of petrol/Diesel fuel

Hydrogen - shear stupidity. Green hydrogen is a myth. Hydrogen is the oil industry's wet dream because they know the only way to produce industrial quantities of hydrogen is reforming methane which they will happily suck out of the ground for free and sell at a vast profit.

Nice talk in the way the speaker develops the tightness needs and testing solutions. Fully agree that helium testing with tracer is the solid approach and must be in the tool kit of all fuel cell producers. I endorse the statement that there is ambiguity in the interpretation of the legislation of the tightness requirements. The justification that each bi-polar cell needs to be tested to 5 E-5 mbarl/s to get to the DIN requirement of a 400 BPP stack assumes that each plate is going to leak at ~ 5 E-5marl/s - hopefully not. The stack and BBP test strategy/method to adopt depends on return of experience from the bi-polar plate production leak occurrence and the leaks associated to the stack assembly activity. A BPP production facility producing I leak per 100 components will need a different leak testing approach compared to a facility producing 1 leak per 10000 components - each manufacturer needs to consider those inputs . Never-the-less, the speaker makes a great job of explaining the generic approach.

Brilliant. I am an engineering student at Missouri S&T in the US. After learning about the effeciency and circular emssion reduction that methanol from bio mass provides I have looked into some new technology that may make methanol production from anerobic digestion vastly more economically feasible. As you said and what I've since realized is there not enough support for this fuel. Which is sad because when considering everything from polotics to chemistry methanol R&D should be on top of national energy efforts.
