A FRIEND is very curious how the BMS works on these batteries, as they will not let you discharge unless it gets some kind of signal through a couple other wires going into the BMS...
@ryancafferty4973
@ryancafferty4973 3 ай бұрын
it’s not the BMS at all. inside the battery pack is a SCUD branded li-ion cluster, 13S6P, for 48VDC. all that comes out of that pack is a standard XD60 connector, plus a charge cable. the SCUD packs are solidly made, with LG MH1 cells, very robust. the lockout function works via proprietary controller, in tandem with a 4GLTE box (complete with SIM card and backup battery) which is located in the handlebars, behind the headlamp. when that IoT box gets the “go ahead” signal, it simply puts (either 5VDC or 12VDC - i forget) + juice to a wire on the controller (much like a key lock on a generic bike box). it’s deceptively simple, really.

damn i was getting all interested in the new bike lane too.. stupid go pro. all together, how much did you spend on the repairs. after four great years my mantis is starting to have problems, my two motors are locked up, and i'm not sure if its the controller that's messed up or the wires.. i'm afraid to ask the repair dude how much it'll cost to fix or replace anything. so it would be helpful to have an idea on what it will cost.
@scooterridesandtours
@scooterridesandtours Жыл бұрын
Very good questions. Each motor cost $350. The controller cost $105. And a battery cost me about $550. so altogether probably cost me about $1400. Which is far less than getting a brand new scooter by three to $400. When I believe your problem is is that your motors phase wires are going. I went through all that and found out that my front motor was the thing that was the problem with its phase wires. Hopefully this helps.
@scooterridesandtours

Also, be prepared to take hours upon hours of repair work. I want your scooters up to point, you’d probably have another four years worth of scooter time.

Hey! Is there anyway of making the Pro SE’s suspension softer? Just got mine and it’s a little bit too stiff for my weight.
@scooterridesandtours
@scooterridesandtours Жыл бұрын
It’s not easy. You have to take off the front axle bolt in the swing arms and then use a hex key to soften up the screw that holes on to the rubber that helps the suspension. Then after that you have to somehow put the bolt right back into position. Good luck.

great vid as per usual! i would've been scared shitless shifting to 3rd gear with the batt life where u had it! you was hitting some serious voltage sag! If that mantis is 60v then that means if you sag below 48v, that s game over! you clip out and off. what was your batt voltage when u got home?
@scooterridesandtours
@scooterridesandtours 2 жыл бұрын
Ha. Hilarious. I believe when I got home it was around 34% to 40% left. Which is around 55.3 volts. I really don’t have range fears when I pull off 20 mile rides. I know my scooter got it in her to do so. Funny think is that I have never got her under 52 volts. I know there is some voltage sag but I trust that the battery corrects itself and an Uber is only 4 minutes away. Lol. Besides, I’m more terrified of flats than range. Someone taught me a good technique to do when you’re that low is to bring yourself up to a high speed and then feather the throttle till you get to your goal destination.

It's my fourth scooter in and this is the one I wanted from the beginning and the rest of mine I'm going to be giving to my son when he's ready in a couple of years! Couple go tracks and then the x9 max but naturally a rider and a racer and experienced driver for over 20 years two more months now and I'll finally have my mantis 10 pro version 2 the newest model! I'll be the only one in this city! Thanks for introducing it to me 2 years ago when I first started in this industry! Be safe ride safe #awareness is everything! Always look forward to your videos I could watch them all day especially on a rainy day when I'm not riding and then it makes me want to go and release some aggressional street surfing LOL

I would have seen that big suv far away and predicted that it might hit me. I drive defensive as if vehicles are out there to kill me. Cars hate bicycles already, so I know they not seeing scooter riders. Moreover, they won’t be expecting you zipping by at 25 mph and I always expect the worse to happen, this is why I am in survivor mode. Your area would be to stressful for me, to many driving minefields.
