Just purchased a ‘13 Firebird with the same problem, but it doesnt look quite as even. Hopefully I get the same results! Just have to be patient…

I don't think the listener really cares if a nob pops harder or not HAHAH... But seriously. You seem to love the old stuff but think about it like this. Do people care what it is recorded with as long as it sounds good to them? The tone is all I care about. Can it sound good?

If a band records in your room and can’t produce a great sounding track it won’t be for lack of equipment. I don’t record rock bands, but if I did, your equipment list is a must have list. Well done from one gear slut to another.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the biggest difference I heard was from the seemingly more exaggerated EQ moves on the Putlec than the audioscape. Not quite a fair comparison.

Gibson/Epiphone never again. Mahogany is a poor choice for guitar necks. in order to have enough wood to withstand the stresses the neck would have to be so fat as to be unplayable for normal hands. Say what you will about mahogany tone, a broken mahogany neck has really lousy tone (like none) compared to an intact maple neck. Ash is another good choice for necks (think baseball bats) .

Old video I know but I am wondering, can I achieve a similar vibe with the API 535 line amp 500 series? Would love to hit my stereo stems to this thing for drums and guitars.

Both sounded great. Actual PAFs were so inconsistent that I don't doubt that there's a set out there that sounds like the Pearlies.

Very interesting and useful comparison. Perhaps the Audioscape will sound more similar in 50 years. I kind of prefer the OGs, but I cannot afford them honesltly. Audioscape is great though for clones; otherwise there are tremendous companies out there making original designs that are modern and much mroe affordable. Daking, Buzz Audio, Gainlab Audio, Thermionic Culture, Wunder Audio, RND, new API, SSL, and Neve, Empirical Labs, IGS (amazing), Manley...tons of options without going vintage that are much cheaper and "as good"

I've had several repaired...always sounds better and is more stable after. Gibson still does not understand ANYTHING about 'wood'...or innovation, common sense or much else...but it is long past any skilled person being willing to work for a corporation to mass produce mediocrity.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been wanting a pair for a long time, and missed out a couple times on pairs for a down to earth price, and funny enough just a few weeks ago a studio in Vancouver had a gear sale to raise money for someone, and while I was enquiring about some gear I saw in photos, because I couldn’t make it in person that day, and was kind of a one day thing, he mentioned I just missed a pair of 361’s for $30. I basically cried lol! Anyway I just found a pair finally, but they are still a good chunk of change, but nothing like the silly prices people are asking these days. Also, to be honest, the overloud plugin sounds really really good to me, but I’ve never had a real unit lot compare. Have you tried the overloud, and the Audiothing? That’s another one I’ve heard good things about. Also, on another note, what mods have you tried with the Cat 22 cards? Have you tried the jumper mod? And are there any other mods that you know of for the 22 cards other than the vocal mod, and the jumper? Im just waiting to get my units shipped.
