Great video. I have very fond childhood memories of this park. As far as i was concerned it was every bit as good as Alton towers in the mid 90s and was a lot closer to home. We had the highest log flume! Even for a kid, the lack of investment and decline was noticeable towards the 2000s. From then the theming didn't make any sense and moving the entrance so far from the car park was daft. You had to walk past the abandoned old entrance to what just seemed like a temporary side gate. Didn't exactly scream well funded world class theme park.

I live in Ilkeston and I visited American Adventure many times in the early 00s as a kid. The fact that we had a theme park on our door step was amazing. In my opinion the owners that came in and thought shutting down rides would be a good idea were the reason the park closed down. I always wonder what could of been if the park was saved by a super rich company that gave it the investments it truly deserved. American Adventure is a reminder to EVERY UK theme park what can happen if you under invest.

I loved going here as a child, then one day I went (probably the year 2000) and almost all of it was fenced off with no access. The only rides operating where a hanful of travelling rides and i can remember just the log flume starting up (possibly for the last time) years later I learnt the history of the park. Years of neglect to Morecambe by the Lancaster City Council, the closure of the bubbles fun pool, the ending of the Morecambe illuminations, the disaster of Blobby Land, the derilict Midland hotel and the general lack of serious investment in the town the BPB company decided to pull the plug, starting in 1998 closing the back section of the park and at the end of 1999 closing the rest leaving only a small section operating in the 2000 season, after that season the park was abandoned with everything either demolished in situ or rides removed to other parks across the country. The polo tower survived until around 2017/2018 as it served as mobile phone mast. The log flume concrete section still survives, and that's about it! Fun fact for many years, the litter bins at Southport pleasureland used to have bands around them, saying Morecambe Pleasure Park. Obviously, these disappeared when that park closed!

@niallh81293 ай бұрын
@Coaster_Cray_Cray yes it could of been a Southport type park, but sadly at the time Morecambe was seen as finished and there was no investment forth coming. Lancaster City Council had simply given up on Morecambe. @martinporter4980Ай бұрын
Pretty sure that resided at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. There was a sign for it on a dividing “wall” on the left side boundary of the now defunct Virginia Reel wooden spinning coaster. I saw that riding it in July 1982 (oblivious to it being its final ever season then). I never went into see the Hard Luck Bears show but have been intrigued ever since. Loved The Reel though, such a unique coaster, and now completely extinct.
@PeterPumpkinEater75Ай бұрын
@@martinporter4980 Hard luck bears was relocated to Frontierland around 94 I believe. The bears originally used the programmed show and music supplied by their manufacturer Creative Engineering however around 1982 Blackpool recorded their own audio for it changing the characters from American hillbillies to being from various parts of the UK. I always wondered if Frontierland used the original tape or if they too had unique show material
