I am not very good at building , but want to try my hand at making a elevated planter box. I want to know if I can use pine wood instead of cedar to practice once I am good at building will move on to cedar. Can I use the same dimension that you use with cedar?

Yes you can. Pine just won’t last more than a few years.

This concept is usually for people that don‘t like to cock that much. That like more the beauty of it. Imagine using the mixer, frying on a pan, turning on the dishwasher. I wouldn‘t want to hear these noises while watching TV 😂 My actual kitchen is not an open one but it has a door that you can leave open and see the living room. It also has a part in the kitchen where there is the dining table and also a sofa. So if I want to talk and cock to someone they can stay in that space with the sofa. If I want to talk with the people in the living room I just can open the door. Since I‘m more of an inteovert I don‘t like people watching me coocking 😅

Right on! And I thought we were cool bc we were known as the soda and Kool Aid house. Way cooler to be known as the house with the pool!! But offer up soda and Kool Aid and WOW! Best house on the entire block!! YES!! Enjoy your pool. Looks great. ❤️💜💚

Don’t waste your money on an above ground pool that size. If you’re going to invest the funds and resources on a pool of that size, go inground. Better yet don’t get a pool at all. I’ve had a pool for at least 2 decades. It’s always pristine and swim-able. The only thing that gets in mine is my wallet.

As someone who looovesss to cook, leave it. I dont want my entire house to smell like the food im cooking. I do also agree than when the kitchen is isolated, entertaining is a bit taxing.

Is center notching like that used often? And could you go the full height of the beams and cut a center notch at 10inches deep so the top of the beam is flush with the top of the post?

Sure you could. I’m not sure how often it’s used. I copied an existing pergola of his sisters.

Very helpful video. Thank you. I really appreciate the clear and paced instructions, with details others usually leave out. What would you recommend if I wanted to do the same but have the footings or piers extend 3.5' above the ground too so that it raises the whole structure by that amount? Do you think that is even possible with wider footings? I ask because I am purchasing a pavillion product that only goes so 7' high, but need it 10' high. It will be much easier to use this product than sourcing and building the pavillion myself in this remote area. Any advice you might have would be helpful as it is really hard to find answers on this and still diy it.

How about a living+dining room and a kitchen in front of dining room so that people from the living room can't see you and you get privacy while having an open kitchen and easily accessible dining area

We are doing a similar project in our pantry. I've been watching tutorials to learn how to do it. I read that fire code requires the stud and opening to be lined with drywall before the wood shelf unit is installed. Doing this will be a bummer because it will make our shelves 1" narrower. Makes sense though.
