I did 50 years of nursing but got sick and had to retire! Now I’m interested in quilting. I have a number if vintage quilts. My great grandmothers from circa 1900. The one my mom made me as a child and one she made and hand quilted in the ‘90’s.

I love watching you make quilts. I was wondering if you added the top and bottom strips wouldn't you need a longer strip than 36 inches for the sides?
@sewcharmingquiltshop16 сағат бұрын
You can add the top and bottom then the sides of vice versa. Just measure it and cut the strips accordingly.

If you’re thinking about making a queen size quilt, how many color strips across and down, would you need, not including the white strips? And do you know when you are going to finish this video project?
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 күн бұрын
I finished the quilt top. If I wanted a certain size I would just make a strip and lay it across the bed to determine the size. 😁
@CINDYFINKEN2 күн бұрын
@ can i get the link to where you finished the quilt top please. I only have the first half and need the one where you said you would come back and finish the bottom.
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 күн бұрын
I haven’t quilted this one yet. I finished the top but it’s in line to quilt.

I don’t have a time frame but it will be linked to a playlist with that video. I’ll try to quilt it soon.

So how do we do the quilt part?
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 күн бұрын
I quilt them on a longarm but you can on a sewing machine as well. Layer the three together (backing batting and top) spray baste them together or pin them with curved quilt pins. Roll it up and start quilting. The larger your sewing machine throat the easier it is to work with.
@rosiewehner50603 күн бұрын
So how do we quilt it?
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 күн бұрын
It quilts like any other quilt. I did an all over design but it would be nice with the squares outlined too!

I feel like (following your directions)… which you have explained very well…. My problem comes what to do after this part… I can’t afford to send mine to a quilting shop…. Could you walk us through how to finish making the quilt? Thank you 🥰
@sewcharmingquiltshop3 күн бұрын
I’ve got some videos on how to do it on a sewing machine but mainly table runners and door hangers. I don’t quilt mine on a sewing machine. I have plenty of friends who do so I know it can be done! Put the three pieces together (top, batting, backing) spray baste them together or pin them every 8-10 inches or so with curved quilting pins. The roll it up and start quilting. The bigger your sewing machine throat space the better.

Love how you did this. I'm trying to learn to quilt again after developing brain damage from a virus. Your design has encouraged me to try to make a twin size quilt which I'd totally given up on. Your step by step instructions are great, Thanks so mcuh for sharing your joy of quilting, God bless you.

Interesting method...that would make bulky seams... I'm assuming it would make a heavy quilt(?) I'm going to have to try this! Thanks!
