Hey! I have one that looks just like that! Now seeing that your more mechanically inclined than I am I have a question. I need to fix up my Hand brake pawl as it slips. Mine isnt a regular nut and bolt holding the pawl in. Id say it looks like a snap ring but I cant get it to budge. Since you have the same model I was wondering if you might know about this?
@michaelhawkins2882
@michaelhawkins2882 24 күн бұрын
So the pawl rotates and is held on by a snap ring, so it looks like it's the same setup. Are the teeth on yours gone and you're wanting to replace it?
@mannahfarmandforge5225
@mannahfarmandforge5225 23 күн бұрын
yes thats exactly why. the parking break is basically useless because the teeth are wore down. I Was wondering if it was a snap ring or not. I have been afraid to take it off as if I break it then I'm SOL.
@michaelhawkins2882

I'd get the snap ring off. Even if you break it, that shouldn't be a big deal to replace. Finding a new pawl may be a different story. I can try to dig, but a tractor scrap yard may be the cheapest option.

So you may laugh, but just trying to think of a solution if you’re not able to find a new pawl. I wonder if you’d be able to take your pawl and put it in a vise, and use a cut off wheel or even a chisel and make new notches. Because all those do is catch the little rocker and hold it in place. Just an idea if it come to that.

I plan to do more videos of the tractor. Been using it a lot this year on the round baler. But theres not a lot of updates for the brakes. If you did everything I done, you can try to turn the adjuster wheel, but I’d say it’s time for new wheel cylinders. And that means taking the axle tubes off.
@sunoclockoneday2576
@sunoclockoneday2576 Ай бұрын
So you were able to do this without disconnecting the break line ? I ordered the bushings , had them sitting around for a year been dreading the job because other video's ive seen people are dropping the whole beam which i just havent felt like doing 😅. This way looks easy
@michaelhawkins2882
@michaelhawkins2882 Ай бұрын
Passenger side I was able to just drop the axle with everything loose. The drivers side I did have to disconnect the brake line. It wasn’t a big deal, just had to bleed it. I was needing to do that anyways as I try to flush them every 3-4 years.

@@michaelhawkins2882 yeah I wound up watching the rest of the vid. Your right I'm sure it would be a good idea for me to just bleed all the fluid and replace it. Since I've got a deisel I have a fluid extractor and that will make short work of it. Good video man 👍 I think I'll finally tackle the project!

Mike, does your cylinder have a bleeder valve on it?
@michaelhawkins2882

I wouldn’t call it a bleed valve. There’s a breather plug on the top side. I show it in the other video, “why won’t the mower raise up?”

You need to buy the after market front lights
@michaelhawkins2882
@michaelhawkins2882 4 ай бұрын
So those front lights are actually an aftermarket option. They’ve been on there for at least 10 years. I’m currently putting LEDs on the fenders and ROPS, and hope to leave those if they are functional.

Website. They sometimes have salvaged deutz. Beats having new sent from Germany. They quoted me for a new drawbar for 6275 2500 new from Germany. ALL STATES AG PARTS. $450. Seals for hydraulic end cap. $75. I got a couple more places you might be able to get parts as well. Semper Fi! Old grump vet.

How do you know when the bale is finished being tied?
@michaelhawkins2882
@michaelhawkins2882 9 ай бұрын
On this baler, everything is manually controlled for tying. So it's done when I tell it to be done! You kind of develop your own style to tie. When you bring the arm all the way home, there is a knife that cuts the twine.

The part number for the shims is for the 8N. I didn’t realize until I went to put them on the other side. I ended up taking one of the old shims, copying the pattern and cutting some new ones using a water jet/laser cutter.

So after doing a little digging, a common modification is to use smaller automotive cylinders. These are probably what was used in the kit I bought. They do not let you generate the same pressure, therefore braking ability.

Definitely worth mentioning, after calling into Freightliner and getting the Up Down combination, I found out they were exactly opposite. Where I was told Up was actually supposed to be Down. Confirmed this on both the speedometer and tachometer. Both were opposite from what they told me.

For doing just a few bales at a time, I would think that would be OK. Simple and you don't have to reply on any electronics to work. But if you were baling more than 20-30 rolls, I would think that would get old, FAST!

My 2840 was a great tractor. I found that rocking the steering wheel back and forth would bleed the pressure off of the pump. More importantly, a block heater was absolutely necessary in temps below freezing.

What causes shear pins to break after 3 feet of bale of hay
@michaelhawkins2882
@michaelhawkins2882 2 жыл бұрын
Several things can cause pins to shear. If you’re only making a 3 ft bale before they let go, you have issues somewhere on the baler. Probably a bearing out or something rubbing somewhere. I have been having issues popping pins after I get to about a 5.5 ft bale. My problems are coming from the pickup though. One side on the pickup wore through the support arm and is causing the floor chains to hit. You’ll have to give your baler a good go through to find any problems.

How is it threaded? How many grease points?
@michaelhawkins2882
@michaelhawkins2882 2 жыл бұрын
Twine box is on right hand side of baler, as sitting in seat of tractor. Twine goes through spools to the front, then through needle/arm. Total grease points are just shy of 30.
