Replacing the rear axle bushings in my 01 Jetta. You can either drop the whole axle, or do one side at a time. I chose to do one side at a time. I had to cut a slit in the bushings, then hit them with an air hammer.

So you were able to do this without disconnecting the break line ? I ordered the bushings , had them sitting around for a year been dreading the job because other video's ive seen people are dropping the whole beam which i just havent felt like doing 😅. This way looks easy

Passenger side I was able to just drop the axle with everything loose. The drivers side I did have to disconnect the brake line. It wasn’t a big deal, just had to bleed it. I was needing to do that anyways as I try to flush them every 3-4 years.

@@michaelhawkins2882 yeah I wound up watching the rest of the vid. Your right I'm sure it would be a good idea for me to just bleed all the fluid and replace it. Since I've got a deisel I have a fluid extractor and that will make short work of it. Good video man 👍 I think I'll finally tackle the project!
