No. Every song Normani has released, she was in the room building it from scratch with the producers and her main co-writer Starrah. There is an early demo version of this where the drums and production are way different. She was revamping this for years. This urban-pop style been her style of music since she was a member of Fifth Harmony.

I feel like this is going to get misunderstood because of perhaps how I worded it. In the reaction I said “whoever wrote with Normani”. I have reactions of Normani where I’ve read who have co written with her. Feel free to watch those after they are on my channel

@@StiloReacts I get what you're saying but attributing this style of music to Chloe when Normani has been doing this kind of music for over 10 years is where I was kind of like ??? Especially since the real originator of this rap-singer pop style is actually Beyoncé. nice review nonetheless.

I've liked lana since was a child, like 7 or 8. My life was not easy growing up and as cliche as it sounds she is quite literally an escape for that. One of the most beautiful things about her and her music is that it is so niche to a specific type of person, especially girls. People mistake her for glorifying abuse and such but as a listener who has lived through those tumultuous bonds, it isn't a matter of glorifying it but finding an uncomfortable comfort in the sadness. Her music genuinely is a provision of hope, helping me see through the uncomfortable feelings that cannot be voiced and only felt. Your regular person or critic can not comprehend the nostalgic and dreamy feeling her words, lyrics, and melodies provide. She is an otherworldly singer something that only a select few can understand, her audience.

Mad respect to you sir for making this insightful video. I've been a fan of Lana since day 1, and amid all her flaws and misinterpretations from the press, she endured. There's only a few artists who became very popular not because of #1 hits or whopping album sales or being a darling of the press, but because of the cultural and musical impact they have brought to fellow artists and to the world. I'm confident and proud to say that Lana is one of them.

The A&W lyric wasn’t to be taken at face value, but more of a metaphor. The song in whole talks about losing the comfortability of childhood, and wanting to be loved. After going through lover after lover, she came to the conclusion that she is a “whore” in the eyes of the public (as you mentioned earlier) for just wanting to be loved and heard.
@StiloReacts
@StiloReacts 2 күн бұрын
How I isolated it made it seem I had a problem with the actual lyric, which I understand how it came across, I’m only speaking about the subject matter and its delivery, I’m used to it being written in a different way structurally and melodically.

A&W is about her relationship with a man who completely broke her. She’s not saying she’s an American w*, but rather that this is how she feels the man sees her. During their couple’s therapy, she discovered he was secretly engaged. Additionally, she sings about her traumas (I can’t use the word she mentioned) and the objectification of her body.

Okay so I take accountability for taking the line out of context for how it was being used in the song, but the point of what I was making doesn’t change. The point I was making is how she writes sometimes doesn’t catch my ear in a way that is digestible for me. (*personally*)

22:45 Here she does not speak directly about being that, knowing her well, you realize that everything has a context and double meaning, in reality when you come listening to all her albums, and this same album, you realize that in this song she talks about how destroyed she is. They left her, so she accepts the idea of being named that, she no longer has the desire to prove that she is not, She just lets herself go, because in the next song, in the interlude, she literally gives us the idea of how bad all that kind of stuff is and that she doesn't agree.

I don’t have a problem her being self aware to talk about it in her music, I’m speaking about how it was delivered, was tailored to my emotional resonance. I think a lot of people Who got this far in the video (I appreciate it btw thank you) took it as I’m frowning at the line of “American wh*re” I listen to music all of the time with the same subject manner. But the delivery, frequency, or choice of melody, penetrates to my core. It’s more effective with the songwriter I prefer. I take nothing from Her, I did the video because a lot of people speak highly of her. And I found out why she’s thought of highly.
