I don't think it's the foam, but the glue. On the tonneau and hard top a water based glue was used. A wash and it will melt away.

Brilliant, if the airbag deploys whatever sits in the holder flies in the face of the passenger. Is that even homologated?
@theMGTF3 ай бұрын
There is no passenger airbag. Not every MG TF came with a passenger airbag from factory.
@jaeger49663 ай бұрын
Good to know, sorry if I wrongly assumed there was one since the part is called "air bag blanking plate" in the video. Please folks do not install this if you do have an airbag. Congratulations for your channel btw! ;)

Never use PVC. Surgical tubing only PVC turns into hard plastic in the winter and it cuts up the factory seal.

looking forward to owning my own tf, ive been watching all your videos to see what kind of options there are to fix up and modify the car! As a small tip btw for the flickering light in the video it will be fixed if you match the shutterspeed of the camera with the lights, for the uk this would be 25/50 fps!

I've just done this on my MG TF but just realised I didn't remove the buts before fitting the new gaskets. I just pushed the gasket over the nuts. Do you think I should do it again or will it be ok?

Do you leave the original nuts on the threads or do they get replaced by the ones that come with the covers?

Just watched your video again, great stuff. Can I ask a non related question. I noticed you have a perspex wind deflector. can i ask how you rate them and are they riged when driving at speed
@theMGTF Жыл бұрын
It definitely does the job. Although I’ve never had any other kind of wind deflector to compare against. I’ve driven on the motorway at 70 with the roof down and not had any issues though. I did, however, put some rubber washers around the screws to stop it squeaking when it moves with the wind.

These do look good. Thanks for the video. I have replaced the original ones on my MGF with second hand visors from an Alfa GTV, which screwed straight in and look pretty good. I 3D printed up blocks that filled the original pits in the windscreen frame, which the Alpha mounts didn't fill. If anyone wants to try this, I'm happy to share the printer files.

I knew there was an option to replace the visors altogether. Although I thought they were from a BMW Z3. Didn’t know they were from an Alfa GTV. Do they work well?

We clearly state in our ebay listing, that it is important to lubricate the roof frame pivot points (hinges) with oil (NOT WD40!) as you open/close as they become stiff, when dried out?

I had a similar problem with my tonneau. I laid it out upside down on a flat surface and with a garden hose and a small scrubbing brush I pressure washed while gently rubbing with scrubbing brush , all of the broken down foam rubber just oozed though the netting cover , and when it dried it was perfect. Oh ..then I realised my car had chrome metal hoops so that was a useless exercise. I won’t use the excuse that I am into my eighties but I will use the fact that I have only had the car two months. Cheers and thanks I do enjoy your helpful posts.
