Along the lines of using a toolbox, fishing tackle boxes work really well & you can usually find them at yard sales for next to nothing.

I sew sitting on the floor. It makes it easier to watch my children and sitting upright on a chair for too long makes my chronic fatigue flare up and hurts my back. I was avoiding doing what I loved until it occured to me that I could probably sew on the floor.

Thank you for this info. just a quick tip when using a rotary tool, using large washers to hold down your material and a 5 pound weight to hold down your ruler really help keep everything from moving

I’ve never had good luck getting my tension correct with the thicker denim thread- I’ve tried on industrial and home machines. Any chance you know the thread size you used?

You can reduce jerking of machine. Purchase rubber sheet used inside car near feet, people use it for keeping car clean. Purchase from car tool seller or hardware shop. Put rubber sheet below feet. Rubber sheet will absorb shock.

It’s called an edgestitching presserfoot, I believe :) I do not have one, it didn’t come with my machine but I use my zipper foot for this purpose and it works just as well. I can also adjust how close to the edge it sews. It’s my favourite sewing hack :)

There might be a few names for this foot, maybe depending on the brand🤗 Great idea using zipper foot for topstitching!

Such great tips! I've been checking out the hardware store for sewing helpers too, but I've learned a few new hacks today! I'll add a couple of my own: straight rulers out of aluminium - they're usually at least 50cm long and have a handle in the middle; these are great for those of us who use rotary cutters! For pattern plastic - I love the gardening plastic idea, but if you can't find it, look for transparent rubble trash bags: these are incredibly sturdy, huge, and a roll of 10 or 20 is very cheap. The hardware store is also a great place to find high-quality fine machinery oil and grease for lubricating your machine, in larger bottles and lower prices per volume too. Little wooden stirring sticks for paint make great hem rulers, and great hem weights for straight curtain panels or roman shades. If you do corsetry, you already know all about the giant, thick zip-ties of course, but if you do lingerie or like to play with funky body edges, the hardware store has great options in wire that costs a lot less than buying the pre-formed stuff (you'll need pliers and cutters, of course, but hey, you're at the hardware store ;) ). And if you're working in a small space: a pair of the cheapest wood trestle legs and a pre-cut panel make a great on-the-spot cutting table that you can store away behind a door or under the bed.

I looked for a desk with drawers on the left, so I can have my sewing machine and chair on the right. It leaves room on the left to support the garment I am sewing.

I don’t like all plastic materials esp the bobbin case holder. One mistake and it gets pricked by needle. End of beautiful flawless stitch

I have Singer Heavy duty shown on the picture, but I have problems with it right away. The lever to lift needle area, so cloth could be arranged underneath for sewing keeps falling down. (I think a spring is broken. ) So needle keeps breaking.

Just a few suggestions. I use an IKEA desk for my sewing/embroidery machine. My machine is the same size as yours and it fits nicely on top with an extra large Sewing table. It also has a drawer in the middle that I keep some of the sewing/quilting items i use the most. Also at IKEA they have desk mats that help reduce vibrations for $20. I work at a brother dealer and we use the same kind of mats under the machines to reduce sound and vibration. The sideways cubes for storage are a great way for you to store items. One holds my stabilizers and my additional Embroidery Machine. Just make sure they are the heavier shelving. Thanks for sharing!!!

I use a 4' metal ruler for my rotary cutter when i have a long piece to cut. I also got a metal right angle ruler. I can place one side against the wall to keep it from shifting while I'm cutting with the rotary cutter.

I would very much like to see your sewing tutorial for a coat. Have you sewn the second one yet? I like how you explain thoroughly and that you speak clearly and slowly. It makes understanding so much easier for me since English is my second language. Thank you for your efforts.

I was trying to resist getting a rolling cart, and now you've given me a reason to buy one, lol. Thanks for the info on mixing a commercial-quality steam iron with a metal framed ironing board - good to know. When it comes to ironing boards, I wish I sewed enough to justify a Laurastar with the active ironing board because it just looks amazing. If you ever get one, I'd love a review on it. As for a sewing table - I'm currently sewing on a multiple-decade old office desk, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy pieces from the 1990's like mine if I needed more and found it at a used office furniture store. It is truly sturdy, all these years later. Ikea furniture, as a rule, isn't going to hold up like commercial grade furniture that businesses tend to purchase, which will be thicker and stronger as a general rule. I suspect that many companies sold a lot of office furniture when so many people worked from home a few years ago. Maybe there is a used office furniture company nearby that you could check out? The home office furniture I have is from a company called Techline, and I think there must be many manufacturers who make similar stuff in Europe.

Tape stretches. Check to be sure it’s down straight. In the US yellow tape is masking tape. Do Not Buy. The blue tape is painters tape, get that. It has less adhesive and doesn’t leave a mess; yellow masking tape can cause nightmares. It’s gooey with glue and leaves it all over.

I filter distilled water from the water collected by my heat pump dryer. Simply run the collected water through a paper towel or coffee filter to remove any textile particles and it's ready to use.

I love this video. I like the way you spoke all in one take, or at least without loud change of setting other than clips of the product. And you spoke quietly and calm 😊 I don’t sew garments, like it seems this video was aimed for, but I’ll definitely take some of these. Thanks, great vid :)
