it is really wild to hear your takeaway from mh1 as someone who was on the ps2 network back in the day. yes i beat monoblos and fatalis and yes you should run. but the attitude in minegard back then was that the village quests -- everything about the game you can still access today, and everything you're referring to -- that's the tutorial, man. everything up to monoblos and the sword in the stone. mh1 offline is like 10% of the game. all the red-named HR20 cool cats online falling asleep at the tavern tables think you've just graduated baby school. just throws me for a loop thinking back on those days.

Coming from fft growing up ffta lost me completely. The judge system was annoying like say no ranged attacks means my archer is benched and can't learn skills at that time. I truly liked the open combat of fft to it and by the time ffta2 came in to my life i basically didn't play it much .

YT just randomly fed me this video, and I almost missed it. I've never seen your channel before, but I... I think I love you. Stealth is my ultimate genre. At my first job after university, a coworker gave me Thief I, prior to the Gold Ed. I never really bonded with Styx, though I was very aware of it. I think because I was not into the lead character. But I think I'm going to play Of Orcs and Men as a proper prequel. And try Styx again. I think the dynamic between the two characters looks entertaining enough to make the game worthwhile. Thanks for the background history. I love this sht. I'm sure you're aware of it, and it may be abandoned-ware at this point, and might be difficult to get running, but Velvet Assassin is also a wonderful game that no one knows. With, I might add, a female protagonist. Very different from a NOLF style female lead. Highly recommended.

Lords of Shadow was a masterpiece, influencing Netflix series' enormously, also making the series probably then best reimagoninhbof a franchise ever. David Cox admitted as much of LoS2, saying the main team basically only doing LoS2's opening, epic castle raid and then having funding pulled b/c Kojima to do everyhing for Trash Standing. It is known within the industry that all the guy does is swoopnnin and steal people's work. I would natch up a PS4 HD double collection of these games for PS4 or 6 in a heartbeat. People continue to love the series and LoS's story and take, because Castlevania Nocturne on Netflix cements that. I want MSteam and Iragashi combining their epic stories for say the Castlevania War of 1999, the Holy Grail alluded to throughout the series but but an vdeogame form would cost like 500 mill. Styx is great, two of the only games I ever bothered to knuckle down and 100% because I just enjoyed them that much. It easily joined Prototype and Overlord as the games I weep for never getting a third entry.

Fun fact: in the lore of Monster Hunter, the actual hunters are just a small segment of society, often living on the fringes of civilization. They're kinda seen as weird or eccentric to most common people, but the parts and resources they bring in are essential. They're kinda like how we saw hunters, explorers, frontiersmen, etc in real life back when those were much more essential.
