Well, I watched it. And ???? She talked about "when your team" and "those you're aligned with" etc... Yet... She NEVER spoke of "Truth" nor the "search for understanding" This poor lady needs to watch a video about getting over her binary thinking addiction. People treat life like it is two football teams playing on the field and all the people in the stands are rooting for one side or the other. If a person applauds a great play they think they are on that side. If they boo a bad play, they think they are for the other team. It is so frustrating to live in a society that can't possibly fathom a person not being on either team. In fact they won't allow it and will pigeon hole a person anyways as being for the other side. That's the problem with this world; they have exchanged truth for picking a side. No one is allowed an opinion. A person either with us or they're the enemy or have to be neutral with no opinion. This is what got Jesus in trouble with both sides and got him killed - because he stood for Truth Some things never change. As the Bible says: "there is nothing new under the sun".

Hi! I loved your podcast and understood that you explained the dynamic interactions of serotonin and cortisol in shaping our social behaviors. As a student exploring ideas like proteanism, I find this connection fascinating. Proteanism is all about adaptability and flexibility in social roles, and it seems like serotonin and cortisol could be the biological forces driving these interactions. In human society, social hierarchies are not static; they fluctuate with changes in status, success, or perception. I think proteanism involves shifting one's demeanor to fit the dynamic nature of these hierarchies as it is about the tension between wanting to dominate for social status and the fear of conflict that comes with it. Do you think proteanism could be the key to managing this?

Unhappieness is normal to a point Just like an optical illusion is normal and schizophrenia isnt There is a big difference some people experince sadness and thats all they know as pure sadness ...well other people feel intense sadness or numbness and dark thoughts ect. Without resolution/progression For example a person with adhd They normaly tend to have too many dopamine recepetors so whenever they get dopamine it gets snatched up quick For someone with depression they create less dopamine And for both depending on how bad it is it can be very detrimental to someone And thats when it becomes a biological disease .. Obvsiouly other recptors too I think happiness is a skill you can learn ..but it makes it harder to learn when your brain has chemical imbalances Wich medication makes it easier I kindly agree and disagreee with some points This is coming from someone whos gone through drug addiction and has adhd .. And i know people whos been worse than me without the drugs and adhd Depression is a disease Thougts of hurting your self is a disease long term thoughts of worthlessness isnt normal .. sure it can be environment but its still not detrimental to your welbeing Just most people these days get depressed and think theres something wrong with them and then they spiral them self in a hole thinking theyre depressed when theyre just sad and in a hole But theyd know what true depression is when they feel like theyre worthless and dont belong in this world and nothing can save them so they resort in impulsive stupid behavour or risky things gheyll regret Feeling happy normal feeling sad normal feeling depressed not normal People need to know the difference between sadness and depression

Indeed. There was no little "you" doing any of it. It's happening to you. You did not cause it. The brain is developing in reaction to the environment, and positive/negative feedback loops. Neuronal patterns are being engrained, some more accurate and useful than others. Senza colpa. Based on the vocabulary list at the end, it sounds as if seratonin could play a strong part in our belief in the distribution ("fairness") of just deserts.

I think we are responsible for managing this brain. The fact that it's complex does not mean we are not responsible for our actions.
@user-vi6ro8bd4l2 ай бұрын
That makes sense, of course. Just confused about the age at which we become responsible? There is some discrepancy between the legislative (18) and the biological/developmental (25). And not sure what to do with the large number of imprisoned males and females who have head trauma and high ACE scores in childhood.? Or the influence of neurotransmitters occurring upstream and out of awareness? Too much dopamine and you're hallucinating. Too little and you're catatonic, or worse. Responsibility must be in a sweet spot somewhere in the middle for those of us lucky enough to have it well-regulated.
@InnerMammalInstitute2 ай бұрын
@@user-vi6ro8bd4l There's a big constituency for the belief that "no one is responsible" and a lot of our "science" comes from them.

Your comment could make a fascinating video topic for some of us who watch your channel. What are some evolutionary advavtages/benefits/gains from forming and maintaining such a consttuency? Are there any similar behaviors among primates/other mammals? How can we identify trustable science? What might be some red flags of which to be aware? (In any case, I appreciate your replying to my previous comments).

That is why I used to put up with bad relationships as I was addicted to that feeling when I was cuddles. But now I just go without haha. I would not DARE touch anytjing opiat based if I ever became ill, I definitely would become a smack head 100% 😂

Enlightenment is like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. So the bad news is that you don't have parachute, but the good news is that you discover there is no ground. And then you're just endlessly falling and you never reach the ground. So in a sense, what i'm asking you to do is to jump. And you don't want to jump. You're saying, I'm scared. I'm too scared to jump. And I'm saying, jump. God is telling you, jump, jump into infinite love and it's going to be great. But you're like, what if I kill myself and what if something else happens? I don't know. You just jump into infinite love. Take the leap of faith and you'll discover infinite love. And you're too scared to do it. But then eventually when you do it, then you're just going to discover that there's no ground. You're endlessly falling forever and it's great. But yeah, taking that leap is really difficult. It requires you to face your death. So of course, everybody is too afraid to do it. People are just to scared.

I have a ear worm. I went through a very emotional situation and was listening to a song over and over and now it’s replaying in my mind how can I stop it?
@InnerMammalInstitute4 ай бұрын
Two strategies: #1 Focus on a different song. That will get wired in and show you your power over your brain. #2 Address the underlying fear by building confidence in your own power to manage threats. That's a skill you learn with practice like any other skill. Fear is an old circuit and you can build a new circuit.

@InnerMammalInstitute4 ай бұрын
It's not helpful to think of it as competition. Better to remember no one gets serotonin all the time. Everyone just gets one little squirt from one little activity and then struggles to get another.... Don't compare yourself to others. Just accept that we're not meant to have it all the time. My book on this is Status Games: Why We Play and How to Stop .
