Enlightenment is like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. So the bad news is that you don't have parachute, but the good news is that you discover there is no ground. And then you're just endlessly falling and you never reach the ground. So in a sense, what i'm asking you to do is to jump. And you don't want to jump. You're saying, I'm scared. I'm too scared to jump. And I'm saying, jump. God is telling you, jump, jump into infinite love and it's going to be great. But you're like, what if I kill myself and what if something else happens? I don't know. You just jump into infinite love. Take the leap of faith and you'll discover infinite love. And you're too scared to do it. But then eventually when you do it, then you're just going to discover that there's no ground. You're endlessly falling forever and it's great. But yeah, taking that leap is really difficult. It requires you to face your death. So of course, everybody is too afraid to do it. People are just to scared.

#7 has to do with our ego. That causes our suffering, our pride which is so walked on today. All 7 are legit. We don't want to mess up our happy chemicals with drugs. Finding the right mate and being disappointed create a lot of headaches along with the demands of the world. 😢 Warning not to get too involved in the world and meditate. Meditation is the best remedy and be active 😊 Seek the right therapy 🎉

We seek happy chemicals, socializing=serotonin and oxytocin. Alcohol=dopamine and endorphins. The need for attention and the need to get out of one's skin. Partying usually implies drinking/socializing. Just like sex if it feels good why stop. And then too late 😮

Two strategies: #1 Focus on a different song. That will get wired in and show you your power over your brain. #2 Address the underlying fear by building confidence in your own power to manage threats. That's a skill you learn with practice like any other skill. Fear is an old circuit and you can build a new circuit.

It's not helpful to think of it as competition. Better to remember no one gets serotonin all the time. Everyone just gets one little squirt from one little activity and then struggles to get another.... Don't compare yourself to others. Just accept that we're not meant to have it all the time. I started working out about 3 to 4 times a week on June 1st (had not done this in a while), then I started drinking 1 once of water for 2lbs of weight everyday (new), well 4 weeks ago, I signed up for a stretching and weight class(new). The lower body stretching down my left side was painful, thru my lower left side, which I believed in when I kicked off and endorphin rush, which is a brain chemical that reduces the feeling of pain. I finished the workout and went to hit golf balls (new) before work. On the way to the golf course I was a little tired as all the exercises were new, but happy, because I knew the stretching was going to help me stay loose. I did not really hit the golf balls particularly well, but I started feeling a complete euphoric happy state, I felt every feel good emotion in my body( love, compassion, since of direction, no pain, no worries). A complete state of bliss that stayed with me for 24 hours…. Two weeks later I took the class again and different exercises but the same stretching and it happened again, but it didn’t stay with me for an entire 24 hours, I had a lot work that day, but it didn’t affect my mood and I was able to finish everything. Last week I took the class I didn’t feel it, but this week the euphoric state returned. My theory is that the stretching thru the pain and then completing the workout has created this endorphin rush, but I don’t understand why it stays with me for so long. I have a friend that told me he is addicted to running because he says in the fall when the weather is cool, after about 45 minutes he feels it coming on and it lasts 6 or 7 hours. . He doesn’t feel it in the summer months, but in the fall he chases that feeling. I have another running friend that said we are completely full of BS. I have read that not everyone experiences this, but I am pretty sure when we are younger it happens, but we don’t understand or really care about the why, we just know we are happy, loved, safe, and worry/anxiety free.
@InnerMammalInstitute
@InnerMammalInstitute Ай бұрын
It's very individual. But...you may feel loved and safe but you are not loved and safe. If you don't build a relationship with a human being, you can't get the feeling of being loved by running itself. The endorphin is different from oxytocin, which is human support. If you put yourself in a dangerous situation and then run to feel safe, you are still in a dangerous situation. That's why chasing the spurt from running is not a complete solution to meeting our needs.

When I was 3 or 4 years old I was anxious around water and refused to go into deeper parts of the river/creek near my home. Likely a sensible plan but the reality was that the water did not go above my chest and was slow moving. But I always crossed the river/creek at a shallow part. One day as I crossed in the shallow section I stepped on some broken glass and cut my foot. In my brain, I imagined that I would have been safer and less prone to injury if I had crossed in the deeper part of the river/creek. After that I always crossed in the deeper part of the river/creek.

Love this video but study after study has proven that social media does negatively effect mental health
@khoa4083
@khoa4083 2 ай бұрын
It's true that studies show social media can negatively impact mental health, much like how physical fighting can harm both our physical and mental well-being. But here's an important distinction-while fighting is sometimes necessary for survival, it's not something we engage in without reason. Similarly, we have the ability to be mindful of our social media use and manage it in a way that supports our mental health rather than harms it. Humans have a unique ability to think about our thinking, a process known as metacognition. This means that we can reflect on how social media affects us and make conscious choices to change our behavior. Just as we avoid unnecessary physical fights, we can also regulate our social media habits to maintain our well-being. Dr. Breuning's video points out the importance of understanding how our brains work, which suggests us to take control rather than just blame external factors like social media. It's all about using our ability to think critically and make choices that protect our mental health. BTW, I'm not entirely sure what I just said 😅.

Dr. Breuning, I really enjoyed your video and found it incredibly insightful. Your explanation of why our brains are wired to seek attention, get hooked on rewards, and feel stressed when things don’t go as planned was spot on. I also loved the idea that emotion triggers thought and learning from your previous videos That said, while emotions can certainly drive certain thoughts, I think changing our emotions through thought alone is more complex. In my view, it usually takes repeated actions and the building of new habits to genuinely shift those emotional patterns. It’s not just a quick fix but a process that requires time and persistence. This brings to mind a quote by Marie Curie: "Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood." Of course, the irony here is that Curie died from radiation because she didn’t fully understand its dangers at the time. Understanding how our brains work can help us better manage our fears and emotions-just like understanding radiation might have saved Curie.

Thank you so much for your valuable and distinctive insight. I want to ask, regarding what you mentioned in your video, is this related to the concept of schemata versus mindset? Is it true concepts created and learned by the human prefrontal cortex are not necessarily crucial for survival, the limbic system makes them seem so. Is the best approach to handle this through stoicism?I am trying to find a pathway to understand my schemata
@InnerMammalInstitute
@InnerMammalInstitute 3 ай бұрын
Our brain is wired when we're young, so it feels like survival when you experienced it at a young age. Feelings trigger learning because they're are the brain's signal that something is relevant to survival. Depends on how you interpret stoicism. Ignoring feelings is not good; it's good to noticing them and then remind yourself that they're old messages rather than reliable news.
