Life is more peaceful and satisfying when you understand the brain we’ve inherited from earlier mammals. Your mammal brain controls the chemicals that make you feel good: dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphin. These chemicals are released for reasons that don’t make sense to our verbal human brain. When you know what these chemicals do in animals, your ups and downs make sense!
Our happy chemicals evolved to reward survival behavior, not to make you feel good all the time. Each happy chemical has a special job. When it turns on, it paves neural pathways that turn it on more easily in the future. That’s why we repeat behaviors that we’d rather do without. Fortunately, you can re-wire yourself to stimulate them in sustainable ways.
But it’s hard. It’s like learning a foreign language: it takes a lot of repetition. Yet people do it every day. You can be one of them! You can design a new path to your happy chemicals and repeat it until it’s strong enough to turn on easily. The Inner Mammal Institute shows you how.

Unhappieness is normal to a point Just like an optical illusion is normal and schizophrenia isnt There is a big difference some people experince sadness and thats all they know as pure sadness ...well other people feel intense sadness or numbness and dark thoughts ect. Without resolution/progression For example a person with adhd They normaly tend to have too many dopamine recepetors so whenever they get dopamine it gets snatched up quick For someone with depression they create less dopamine And for both depending on how bad it is it can be very detrimental to someone And thats when it becomes a biological disease .. Obvsiouly other recptors too I think happiness is a skill you can learn ..but it makes it harder to learn when your brain has chemical imbalances Wich medication makes it easier I kindly agree and disagreee with some points This is coming from someone whos gone through drug addiction and has adhd .. And i know people whos been worse than me without the drugs and adhd Depression is a disease Thougts of hurting your self is a disease long term thoughts of worthlessness isnt normal .. sure it can be environment but its still not detrimental to your welbeing Just most people these days get depressed and think theres something wrong with them and then they spiral them self in a hole thinking theyre depressed when theyre just sad and in a hole But theyd know what true depression is when they feel like theyre worthless and dont belong in this world and nothing can save them so they resort in impulsive stupid behavour or risky things gheyll regret Feeling happy normal feeling sad normal feeling depressed not normal People need to know the difference between sadness and depression
