This movie definitely looked like the studio gave DNEG neither enough time nor enough budget to do it. CGI on quite a few shots (particularly the lighting) looked out of place.

Not all of it though.
@Burrvev247Сағат бұрын
You also have to remember that the budget for this movie was not as much like the ones before, add on the fact that this movie included more screen time for the monsters which took even more from the budget

Do you receive the movie in layers, or do you have to roto everything yourselves?
Our hard work seems to be fruitful , congratulations to our whole team …..Great work guys 🎉👏👏👏

They marketed this as "No CGI" and "all effects done in front of camera". Sigh. Put this alongside the blatant false marketing of Top Gun 2, Mad Max: Fury Road, Barbie and ... the list goes on. It's frustating general audiences eat up this "No CGI" bullshit. I also feel sorry for the VFX artists. The filmmakers really put them under the rug, overwork them and often not credit them at all.

Weirdest disaster movie ever but so enjoyable

I liked the film, but it wasnt as good as the original imo. It was its own film, and very different form the original, granted its not the same period in time. it got a ton of acclaim for its visuals but even their i think it could've been far better. I know CGI can be great, but here they lost alot of what made the original spark. Tonally this also didnt feel nor look like LA. it looked like Canada. Dennis homeland. it looked European. even much of the extra actors looked European. what happened to the Asian influence of the original? the greatest achievement in this was cg Rachel. she was bang on, though i also thing the body double cast could've been better. the actress was no where near as petit and slender as Sean Young in her 20's. still it was an amazing achievement. again l liked the film, but it was its own thing, not the truest blade runner sequel i wouldve longed for.

I would say their lighting was bad The subject is very vivid and bright, thats okay, but to make it realisitic , they should make the surroundings brighter tk accomodate for the subjects bright light. Refer 1:32, best example for this The subject is a very large and bright siurce but rhe surroundings are still dark

4:45 If I had a nickel for every time DNEG worked on a sequence where a train runs on concrete, I would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

damn, i had no idea that DNEG did the VFX for this movie. Just goes to show that even DNEG can't fix awful acting and script lol.

I really need to graduate from the donut and tea cup if I wanna scale up to these studios. God dayum the detail in every single poly and vertex is incredible. I really wish I had a dedicated model maker to make this a reality, this CGI as well as Fallout is so on another level.

Some idiots with zero knowledge about vfx they trolled this movie and called it a light show.....

I think put Fast X part 2 for best visual effects for oscar consideration if the vfx teams or Universal decided it.
