using real textured 3d object for background is dumb way to make movie, instead using camera projection, wasting time of render

it's not a waste actually, they need to make the background areas detailed even if it is blurred or else it won't sell the realism. Also, they reuse the same assets in multiple scenes(models, textures, plants, buildings, etc) where they might use the same assets in the foreground in some cases.
