Do you then degrease the router bit shaft before use? I use a lanolin rust protection on my router bits but read you shouldn't use oil on the shaft as it can cause slippage in the collet but getting out the citrus degreaser, waiting, and then taking the router bit over to a tap to wash it off is inconvenient.
@DarrensWorkshop11 күн бұрын
Hi, Happy New Year (almost). I usually just give the router bits a wipe with a cloth. Like-wise when I clean my router bits collets, I use WD40 and just wipe them with a cloth after. So far I haven't had a problem with slippage. I think the kerosene I dilute the oil with might help here as it only leaves behind a super fine coat.

That's a really interesting way of making a box. Turned out great!

IF you aren’t using an offset base when using a track, you should use the leveling outrigger attached to the rear of the router. This eliminates sag, binding, & non-parallel groove sides. The measurement scales on the leveling outrigger also provide excellent alignment positioning references for start & stop, cutter diameters. I urge you to acquire the supplemental instruction manual for the OF1400 EQ. it is far superior to the standard manual, including excellent close-up photos of even the most daunting accessories and techniques!

Gluebot holder - can I suggest mounting the gluebot facing the opposite way? You can then grasp it in the correct orientation for use. The spout will also fit over the handle, reducing the size of the footprint.
@TensquaremetreworkshopАй бұрын
Great analysis. Personally I never have free space in a drawer, so stopping sliding is not an issue. I also use a rectangular base shape, which I find more flexible when matching parts to trays. Colour coding- I use the resistor colour code, so, e.g., 6mm bolts go in a blue tray. Works for drills, taps and dies, reamers, etc. Saves a lot of time. An alternative to a grid for non-filled drawers is non slip matting.

42mm was the length of a slide glass, he mentions why he went with the 42mm in a video. He originally wanted to use glass slide in the front of the bins so he could see inside with his original design ment for the wall draws, something like that 😂 but it's available for you to personalise anyway you want and thats the great thing about it and why its so popular 👍

Hi what's the longest wood you can put through it without it over heating or dulling
@DarrensWorkshop2 ай бұрын
I don't think there is a piece of timber long enough to do this by itself. The blades will eventually dull after hundreds of cuts over multiple boards. I have never had an issue with overheating, and the blades are still sharp.

not a user of any grid based system, but for those interested there is an add-on for fusion 360 to generate gridfinitiy blocks, which allows you to just cut out the shapes you need, and not have to design base pieces. So if you need a 4x4 grid it will generate the base block for you, then use sketch out and cut/extrude what you want removed
@hanspijpers21002 ай бұрын
Hi, I just started yesterday with gridfinity, and my base plates are all half width at the borders, My max is a 6x6, so I need more then one . I glued them together with superglue, and it works like a charm (I got the one without the magnets) Oh and for the "open" space if the 42mm does not fit, like the gap you got, You could of course print a long very small box that fits exact between . For a long drill bit or etc. Kind regards Hans

I have the same one but how would you avoid that kink on the wood about 2inch from the start when you feed it in I believe most planners do as I've had before
@darren43922 ай бұрын
Hi, That is called snipe. You can reduce it by ensuring both your infeed and outfield tables are level with the base of the unit, and by holding the timber steady as you feed it in and out of the machine, but in my experience, you will still get some snipe. Where posable, thickness your timber before cutting it to length so you can cut off the snipe at the ends of the board.

Greetings from the uk… what a great vid! Like you I’m a woodworker who has got into 3D printing. It’s really rewarding to find a ‘workshop problem’ then design a solution in Fusion 360 etc, and see it come to life on the printer. I’m doing the same, although pretty new to it, so lots of trial & error. Very generous of you to share your designs on Thingiverse, for the benefit of folk who don’t have the skill or wish to try and design their own 😊

Nice review! I’m thinking about getting one of these, but my doubt is: can I get precise bevel cuts as a miter saw does?
@DarrensWorkshop2 ай бұрын
Hi, The Zetsaw cuts very accurately, as long as you set it up accurately using the protractor or detents.
@karincorbin23552 ай бұрын
You can get even more precise cuts. Power miter saws typically have warping in the fences. That happens from stresses that create some movement to the metal surfaces that happens post manufacturing. It is not possible to get those shifts of the fence and table surfaces removed or readjusted.
@TONI53212 ай бұрын
@@karincorbin2355 I’m surprised to know that. Many people that doesn’t know this saw guide telling me to buy an electric miter saw instead . But I’m getting more and more impressed and willing to get one of these saw guides!

Can you use a 25mm masonry drill bit with this out of the box or do you need the chuck upgrade? The manual shows a shopping cart which contains some drawings of tool bits that are for purchase and oddly enough a chuck that has claws but no info in the manual at all. It does state in the manual that you can use up to 26mm masonry drill bit. It's rare to find someone in Bunnings who knows much about these kind of details when it comes to power tools and they are the only option for buying these brands.
@DarrensWorkshop2 ай бұрын
Hi, you can use a 25mm SDS bit in the existing chuck (www.bunnings.com.au/kango-25-x-250mm-k4-sds-plus-drill-bit_p6350843?store=2435&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADtbEB_dTZ0da_0tUc7gtX9AgeEG1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInPH3r7SRiQMVRalmAh1_BQMbEAQYBCABEgKYMPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds). I wouldn’t futz around with that kerf gauge. Seems slower and more trouble than it’s worth. Just offer up the stock you need to lap and a square to keep it aligned then trace with a pencil. Hog out in between the pencil lines, but leave the trace lines visible. Can always sneak up to the pencil lines if too tight.

As many have mentioned it is shocking how useful someone familiar with basic workshop vacs unboxing one can be with how bad ryobi's instructions are, grabbed a similar model for the garage as I have recently started doing some woodwork along with the homebrewing so it kinda became a required item and I have never seen such unclear instructions on fitting a bag to a vacuum. You know instructions are bad when lego and random poorly translated cheap asian imports instructions are infinitely easier to understand.
