I hate to be that guy, but this theme is a total ripoff of spanish bass piper artist HEVIA and his famous song "Busindre Reel". It even copies the same song structure. I really love Yoko Kanno and her talent. This is why I really don't undertand what could have happened here. The song still rocks, but I think people should be aware of this and give Hevia some credit.

Yeah we know that, its been known since old ro2 beta. Both songs are amazing. Having song structure isn't really rip-off but yeah, its so similar in structure that even when the themes itselves aren't really the same in everything else it may raise an eyebrow.

My understanding is 1. it has to do with the presence of monsters in the game? There is a version without that sound called "no monsters." 2. it might have been an attempt at imitating a didgeridoo like in the song this is based on: Hevia - Busindre Reel

I can't think of anything in this exact style, but it reminds me a little bit of some of Mike Oldfield's work (definitely check out Amarok for a few similarish moments, but a lot of his discography is worth digging through, especially the 70s stuff). For something a bit more similar in style, try the song Ballavanich by Wolfstone. I grew up with the album "The Rough Guide to Scottish Music", and while the whole thing is a solid listen, that track is probably its best example of this energetic-atmospheric kind of thing. Oh, also the song The Sensual World by Kate Bush is pretty cool.

They had the capability. They just decided going against the grain wasn't gonna work so they made it more WoW-like. And that mostly failed. They had the resources all along. They just tried to cash in instead of sticking with what made RO cool.

I didn't know this song exist, because my RO2 OST wasn't include this song. I am surprised because I only listened to this song live at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Korea in 2007. So far, I can't forget when they played this music.

I'm not sure it's close enough for you, but Värttinä's songs can be a bit similar sometimes, like Korppi and Seelinnikoi!

Thank you for preserving such beautiful music. Gravity had no idea what they threw away so carelessly. I still think of this game like no other game I've ever played. Hopefully Ymirheim comes through with remastering the game.

agreed, OG ragnarok online 2 was magical. I never got to play too much of it cause was just on a private server that didn't have much content, but I loved it all the same!
