Nice! Those are u-bolts I’m pretty sure. I sold a JD LX176 with that same engine. My main mower, a old Murray that I’ve modified, will need a different transmission soon.

Good Afternoon! i Love watching your Awesome videos. Love your attention to the details. i had a spark plug wire on my ride on mower that a mouse chewed on, it looked like your wire. i just put some black electrical tape on it and it still work good. Awesome idea to use the sandpaper as a spacer for your coil. i usualy use either ebay or amazon for carb/ carb parts and also for starter/ starter rebuild kits. there is Nothing like a Good mud run. WOW! glad that you are ok. :)

Cool video and projects! If you don’t mind, I give you a little bit of advice. Next time you take apart a transmission like that get yourself a cheap magnetic parts tray or two from one of the box stores, like tractor supply or harbor freight. As you take things apart, you can put the various steel pieces such as bolts and detent balls Into the parts trays and they won’t fall out or get misplaced. Also, if you’re ever dealing with engine covers and transmissions like this with multiple bolts that hold the cases together, I like to cut out a piece of cardboard and draw a basic outline of the engineer transmission. Then you can mark around the outline with a marker, and as you take the bolts out, you push them through the cardboard in the respective spot it would be on the case or engine. That way you can put the exact bolts back in the exact place they came from and that’s very helpful especially if the bolts are not all the exact same length. Good luck on finding the detent ball, and if you use RTV sealant when you put the case halves back together, use 80-90W gear oil and I like to mix it with at least a third of Lucas oil stabilizer. The oil stabilizer is very thick and will help cushion worn parts and quiet up the transmission if it makes any noises normally.

Lock that front axle solid to the frame. No articulation. A little play can cause speed wobbles and a loss of control, possibly roll. Racers eliminate all movement of the front axle
