I'm listening to the Hobbit right now. It's wonderful how he manages to capture voices of other dwarves and add a bit of his own to it. They are similar to voices of the actors from the movies

I wonder if one of his inspirations for the voice was gurgi from the black cauldron sound the same voice but he’s evil of course and gurgis good and both are similar fantasies

@danielhowell My dad bought this book for me after we couldn’t find it in the bookstore, and I left it on my coffee table when my parents came over for dinner, and my mom took one look at it and asked if my mental health was okay. I said yeah, it’s a guide for when things go to shit

Perhaps the best audiobooks ever recorded. I cannot stress the sheer quality these books have. This has set the standard for how audiobooks should be done. I only wish the song of ice and fire had a similar quality.

This is now the one and only way to enjoy the LOTR. It's above and beyond. The telling, the voices, the songs by different characters in different emotional states, the Quenya, the Sindarin ... Even Tolkien would agree. He should be knighted for this. Sir Andy Serkis he already is to me.
