The ones I've found that I do like (particularly if I'm only working on a couple frets) are the MusicNomad Grip guards. But generally I'm with you, I like to tape off the entire fretboard. Scarr usually finds all these guitars have level frets - which is something that most people don't vwant to do. It's really a good deal.
@FretboardDiaries5 күн бұрын
Interestingly enough, Scar reviewed this guitar on its first run and gave it a terrible review. I know because I watched it before I received this guitar. I specifically looked at the issues he had to see if this guitar had them and it appeared like Fesley fixed them. That’s one of the reasons I like and work with Fesley. They are actively looking to get better, they seek feedback, and they act on that feedback. That’s a rare find with Amazon guitars. Most Amazon budget companies are just looking to pump out cheap guitars and get them sold… I’ll have another Fesley review coming in the next month. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching 🤘🎸
@AnnoyingCritic-is7rp5 күн бұрын
@FretboardDiaries My memory is lousy. Maybe it was the strats that had good fretwork? But yes, I hope they are improving. I don't mind one or two frets being up but I don't want to do the whole fretboard.
@FretboardDiaries5 күн бұрын
@ Indeed… and he’s done numerous reviews of Fesley guitars with others scoring very well… It was this particular model that he had an issue with. That said, it was clear from the one I got, that they addressed the issues and they responded to him on the video as well. Either way, I’m really stoked that folks can get a guitar like this for the price. When I was a kid, that was unheard of, so it’s nice to know that kids can get their hands on a good guitar for a budget price…

What cleaning material did you use for the fretboard? I read that composite material gets tacky after a while from sprays made for hardwood fretboards. So I wanted to see before I grab mine in a few weeks
@FretboardDiaries11 күн бұрын
Oh man, it’s been so long I don’t remember the exact brand… This was a VERY light cleaner, that has never left any fingerboard tacky… That said, if you look through my channel, you’ll find other cleaning videos where I use a cleaner, then a conditioner. A conditioner can ABSOLUTELY leave the fretboard tacky for a little while, particularly if the fretboard is a board that uses a filler, like a Roseacer Fretboard… So the short answer is, NO, if you’re using a simple cleaner, a fretboard shouldn’t be tacky. If you’re using a conditioner, it’s possible depending on the fretboard materials…

I'm just now unboxing my bridge & vibrato tailpiece combo - $65 shipped, no permanent modification - kind of seems like a no brainer. I'll put it onto a kit semihollow I built as an experiment. I've never had a whammy on any of my guitars before so this will hopefully scratch that itch. Mine came with just one felt pad, I'll probably mcgyver something from the fabric scraps pile to protect the top. My package did, however, contain another item - it looks like a nut locking device? Another undocumented mystery. Your two videos - this one here and the roller bridge - have been very helpful. You're the Kenny Gioia of Guyker!

@FretboardDiaries14 күн бұрын
I definitely recommend not doing it yourself if you’re a beginner or if it’s the only guitar you have. One thing I would tell you at some point, buy a really cheap guitar, and learn to mod it that way. For instance, Donner had a strat on sale last week for $65 shipped. That is the ideal guitar to learn to mod, put tuners on, file/level fret, pickup swap. That way, if you make a mistake, or can’t get it back together, it’s no big loss… It will help you in the long run to learn how to mod and setup your own guitars Lastly, make sure you order the correct tuner type… I believe your SG is typically a 3x3, not the in-line 6. Be sure to order the right ones. Best of luck man 🤘🎸

@@BeardedMark91 Actually no, because the action was a tad low to begin with… but I would expect to have to make a minor adjustment if the action is currently where you like it. No adjustment to the saddles was needed however I did have to slot the nut just a tad, but that was it… Typically a slight truss rod adjustment may be needed. It can be very fickle… I just moved to a very dry area from very humid area, and about half my guitars need truss rod adjustments 🤦♂️…

I have no doubt that the HB 62 is a better guitar. I’ve got multiple HB’s and know their quality well, the problem is, if you live in the States, you’ll at least $75 for shipping. It practically doubles the price of the guitar. Whereas you can get something like this on Amazon for under $100 shipped to your door. This guitar also includes a gig bag and accessories, so if you’re a beginner just starting out, it may be a better value. I would definitely prefer the HB, and if you’re planning to mod or are a seasoned player, the HB is definitely the better option 🤘🎸
