Ironically, my brand new brushless Snap On 1/4” long neck ratchet had that same issue with the lever binding up and is already in for service.

Before I got the mountain style wrenches, I used my old Pittsburgh Pro with the low profile sockets. It worked well. That’s how I like to use them. Didn’t use them under high torque though. Broke loose with the longer wrenches with zero offset fixed end.

Klein NCVT-2 manual: OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: Modes of operation: The NCVT-2 can operate as a dual range (NCVT-2 mode) or single range (NCVT-1 mode) tester. In NCVT-2 mode, the tester will light a steady blue LED in the tip to indicate power-on and dual range mode. In NCVT-1 mode, the tester will light a steady green LED in the tip to indicate power-on and single range mode. Turn unit on: Press and hold the power button for ½ second, then release. Listen for single-beep sound and watch for a steady green or blue LED to illuminate in the tip of the tester. The tester is now activated and is operational. Test on known live circuit to verify tester functionality. See Silent mode for additional power-on options. Turn unit off: Press and hold the power button for ½ second then release. Listen for a double-beep sound and watch the green or blue LED turn off. The tester is now deactivated and is not operational. System self-test: The “power on” blue or green LED visually confi rms battery suffi ciency, system integrity, and operation/active mode. Always test on known live circuit to verify tester functionality prior to use. Changing operation modes: While the unit is powered on, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds. The unit will beep 3 times and the power-on LED will switch from blue to green or green to blue. The tester will start in whichever mode it was last powered off in. Checking for the presence of AC voltage: Prior to use, test on known live circuit to verify tester functionality. Place tip of the tester near an AC voltage and refer to the tables below for each mode: NCVT-2 mode: POWER-ON 12 TO 48 VOLTS AC 48 TO 1000 VOLTS AC Audible Single Beep Low-Pitched Pulsing Beeping Sound High-Pitched Continuous Beeping Sound Visual Steady Blue LED Blue LED Turns OFF and Red LED Blinks (approximately 2-times per second). Blue LED Turns OFF and Red LED illuminates continuously. NCVT-1 mode: POWER-ON 12 TO 48 VOLTS AC 48 TO 1000 VOLTS AC Audible Single Beep No Sound High-Pitched Continuous Beeping Sound Visual Steady Green LED Steady Green LED Green LED Turns OFF and Red LED illuminates continuously. In NCVT-2 mode, the tester will be more sensitive and will show voltage indication at a further distance away from a high voltage source than in NCVT-1 mode. Use NCVT-1 mode in situations where you expect the voltage source will be greater than 48V AC. Low battery indication: Scenario 1 - Powering on the tester: The “power on” LED in the tip of the tester changes from a steady green or blue to a blinking green or blue and a series of beeping sounds is generated. The tester then turns off. The unit is now deactivated and is not operational, the batteries require replacement. To replace the tester batteries refer to the Maintenance section titled “Battery Replacement.” Scenario 2 - Operating the tester: If the LED lights dim and the tone fades, the tester may require new batteries. To replace the tester batteries refer to the Maintenance section titled “Battery Replacement.” Auto Power Off: After 4 minutes of non-use, the tester automatically powers off to conserve battery life. Listen for a double-beep sound and watch the “power on” LED turn off. The tester is now deactivated and is not operational. Silent mode: The tester can be operated with only visual indication of voltage. With the tester powered off, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds then release.

I had the first gen long version. I was using it to remove door hinge bolts on a Chevrolet Equinox at my local Pull-a-Part yard. The sliding selector switch kept moving and locking up the ratchet mechanism and the switch ended up falling out. I warrantied it at my local HF after that for the second gen long version. We’ll see how long that lasts.

I've always liked that style. I just didn't like the way the ends were held in. I'll be picking both the new styles up soon because that's much better. I'll have to figure out how they come apart to clean and re-lube them. That really helps those operate more smoothly. If they've got an internal snap-ring, they may just have to be submerged or work in the oil around the outside edge of the anvil. But, we'll soon see. That is a better design, though.

To clean and lube a ratchet head you can't disassemble, get a gallon jug of WD40 and pour some into a jar deep enough to cover the ratchet head. Soak the head for a few hours (or days if it is really dirty), and take it out and turn the ratchet every so often. I salvaged a set of Blackhawk ratcheting box-end wrenches that way. The least used wrench took about an hour; the most used, which was really dirty, took a couple of days but came out buttery smooth. Just put it back in the WD40 when you need to re-lube.

I've never been much on that style, having a 1/4" on one end and 3/8" on the other but I'm sure there's a situation where it's handy. I would take back the one that sticks. Thanks Catus

Is there a max torque or breakage test for these ratchets? I didn't purchase the boxed set just the 3/8" and 1/2" drive ratchets and the ratchet action is silky smooth.

I got a pair of these when they fist can out. I thought they were garbage for about 2 years. A friend of mine talked me into just exchanging them for a new pair . Now it's my go to strippers and wire cutter. Election for 20 yrs. The Doyle line is not better than Kline but can easily keep up. And they don't disappear after coffee break on you

I bought the Wera sliding t-handles off Amazon. They range from $20 for the 1/2 on down to about $11 or $12 for the 1/4. They're ok and will do for now, but I would like to get something better later on. The center detent is on the inside of the anvil, but there's no groove on the bar to hold them in place to keep them from sliding, which is the main reason I bought them. I wanted some with the ability to use them as t-handles.
@michaellindsay89342 күн бұрын
Williams would be my pick. The Snap-on looks unfinished other than stamping their name and over pricing it. Thanks Catus

I have a Koken 3785 sliding T Handle... it features an oval bar, so the head won't pivot anywhere, and a center detent. Beautiful machine work, fit & finish; and at under $20 a good buy. Bar measures 200mm or about 8". Don't use it a whole lot, but now & again is just the thing! (Have a 1/4" Koken as well, it's also nice but has a round bar. It's the 2785 with 115mm, or about 4-1/2" bar.)

My coworker has a cordless 16g Ryobi nailer, he floods that thing with Paslode oil after every use. It still works, I let him know it isn't doing anything but making a mess and leaving oil spots on the nail holes. Those cordless Ryobi nailers are excellent and durable. Professional grade. At least the ones I have
