love that 8inch vox sound. Did you put a smaller speaker in it? (i think 10inch was factory). EDIT: Never mind, i read the description :) Thx for the video @gmlasam

free stomps sent me (one of the few old links that still works, bless you). I never owned or played a real one, but I've bought quite a few clones. including about three or four from Jonny hafer, "sound sounds" outta phx. yours sounds like the best one he made me, and yes they all do differ in the ones he sent. yours has the same characters that I love in my number one from him

Does the fab fuzz work well with tube screamers or buffered pedals in general? Thanks
@flukyreview9128 Жыл бұрын
Fuzz in general by their design do not work if placed after a buffered pedal. The transistors are very picky and often sound too thin and buzzy after a buffered pedal. You really need to experiment on what pedals work with fuzz pedals.

Love those P90s especially for low to medium gain playing.. I'm planning to get one, but I'm curious if they could also handle heavier gain for hard rock and metal genres... any thoughts?

This video is 360p quality. So first of all, how could you tell the difference at that low of video quality? I have both pedals and there is a huge difference in tone. The Keeley mod sounds smoother, has more range of overdrive, has more sustain and sounds better period. Great tone and playing. in this video, by the way! The style you're playing in suits the stock SD-1 well. I think the dynamics, going from clean to overdrive from a change in pick attack, is where the Keeley, to me, doesn't do well. Overall, from my experience having the pedal for over 10 years, the Keeley mod is well worth the money and makes the SD-1 sound amazing. Love that Texas tone on the video!

Any idea why my persuader only works with the gain all the way up? I get two sounds:Off and high gain. I tried an au7 but it actually made the volume(which works) louder. Other than that it sounds so similar to the ax7 that I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in a blind test. I like the pedal’s sound ,I just wish I could turn the gain down. I have a CTS pot on the way. I’m hoping that’s the issue but I’m thinking every persuader probably does this. It’s probably because of the low voltage. Fun kit tho if you like building stuff!

You didn't compare an old tube with a new one. You compared two different tubes plugged in to a particular circuit. You should've gotten a new 12au7 to compare with the old. The circuit sounds optimised for 12au7. (The 12ax7 sounds so dark that I suspect impedance 'matching' is rolling the treble too hard.)
@flukyreview91284 жыл бұрын
The best comparison video in KZbin so far. No bs dialog, just let the pedals do the talking.

@daddyosink44134 жыл бұрын
Yes. The Classic OD is a Guitar Center exclusive (has a dip switch inside that switches to the Zakk Wylde sig tone stack) but is the same as the MXR GT-OD. The Classic Distortion seems to be a GC only pedal too, not sure what production model it is, definitely not a Distortion+.
@KRAZEEIZATION4 жыл бұрын
It’s the Distortion III I’m pretty sure.

@@daddyosink4413 you got that right! I had been an original distortion+ and both or these are much,much better!!!
@daddyosink44134 жыл бұрын
@@williamgregory6684 I had a mid 80s Distortion+ and LOVED that pedal because it was transparent and had no tone knob. It was very akin to the DOD Preamp 250 circuit with a better bite. I traded it for a RAT and never looked back. My son and I both have the Classic OD on our boards, and I honestly prefer it over my original TS808.
