Mummers circulated in Sodus Bay, NY after 6 on Christmas Eve and it was a grand time! You New Foundlers don't have this alone! Anybody who lived by the Lake and worked on the Erie Canal or across the Great Lakes knew of the Mummers and sometimes participated. I was just a kid when I remember the Mummers visiting me and my Grandma when I was 6. Later, when I was 12 I went Mummering and enjoyed every year having fun.

I have a CD that has this song on it. All the Christmas on it are in different genres. A couple of jazz, another Celtic, one sounds like a Broadway show tune, all kinds. The title of the songs are listed but not the individual artists. Its one of my favorite Christmas Cds. I've tried finding information about it and have only found the producer's name and nothing else.

What’s the name of the cd
@RobertVeasquez Жыл бұрын
@@joeytribiani9779 The name is, ‘Season of Entertainment.’ Someone gave it to my wife around 2008. I used to be able to find imagaes of it online and maybe one or two for sale used on eBay. But I just searched for it and found nothing. Years ago I found a page by the producer but I have never been able to find, other than one or two of the artists on it. Hmmm, I might try playing the songs and see if an app can identify them. But those things are geared more towards popular songs and artists.

I FINALLY FOUND IT! When I was about 12/13, my sister's friend's family (who were originally from Newfoundland) would drive us to the small local ski hill on Friday nights. Along the way they would play a CD with this song on it (amongst others) and it always stuck in my mind even though I could never remember the title, the singers, or most of the lyrics. I had no idea until recently that it was Great Big Sea, or that it was a Christmas song at all. So glad to have found it! There was also a sad song off the same CD about a horse getting stuck in the mud and drowning; I'll try to find that one next.

Its songs like this that remind me how betrayed we were. It's a shame we continue to destroy our nation under this accursed flag. Our culture will only die further, and young fellas like me will have no heritage to pass down to our children.

Newfies spend more money on alcohol than any other province, but only because it's more expensive there. They also drink more beer per capita than any other province.

Keep in mind I'm from Ontario and I tried my best to write out the lyrics, so here ya are, but some of them might be a little off. :) Sitting at home on Christmas Eve, me and the mrs. Kids were fast asleep in bed when she said "Let's do the dishes" Now I'm not fond of housework boys, and I dread doing dishes So I thought, it occurred to me, so I says to the mrs "The tree's not dressed, the toys not out, so I'd best get at it" She says me there, sure they're upstairs, hidden in the attic So up the stair, I'd 'de creep, as quietly as I could boys Opened up the attic hatch, and look they're all the kids toys I set them down upon the floor, put 'em all around the fire Then I saw, printed on the box, "Assembly Required" Then the wife, she said to me, do ya reckon you can do it? Handing me another box that read "Batteries Not Included" She said "oh dear" as she fixed her hair, and pulled on her stocking "I'll have to run, to the store, for the batteries I've forgotten" She headed out, to the store, while I went to the toolshed I cursed upon those dreaded words. "Batteries Not Included" So I fixed me self, had a little drink, and laid out all me riches Opened up, the bloody box, and out feel all the pieces Well the time went by as I assembled it guys, and oh, was I tired I swore upon that cursed phrase. "Assembly Required" Oh the wife, she finally got back home, with the blastin' batteries And I pinny-stuffed the christmas tree as she slipped into her nightie Then off to bed, we did go, hung a stocking by the fire And all I could see in my sleep was "Assembly Required"
