I tried Mrs Dalloway and found it hard to follow and couldn't finish it(thou I've read and enjoyed classics by other authors) I think I'll keep it aside for now and try to the lighthouse. You made me excited about it. Thank you

I've read To The Lighthouse and it really is a wonderful read. Woolf's descriptive style is something that really stands out for me. It feels personal, detailed and deeply layered. There's some really beautiful lines in this novella that speak volumes about humanity. I must admit I was hesitant at first (the stream of consciousness was slightly jarring to encounter as new to her work) but the more I read, the more I fell into her world :)

The Mermaid and Mrs.Hancock is fantastic. Wonderful, skilled prose, and the settings and descriptions are phenomenal. Winter Days by Winterson is a perennial favorite of mine. The stories are PERFECT for this season!

One enjoyable aspect of Return Of The Native(I'm halfway through) is that it's set during the current season. I'm interested in seeing where the story goes with Eustacia. I believe reading goals are only for people with the time on their hands to obsess about them.😂

Can you recommend a novel that would have a narrative similar to that of Jane Eyre? It should be first-person, but also... it should be so honest and fresh. What I like about Jane is the self-reflection and high level of self-awareness of the heroine. She tries to describe her own interior clearly, honestly, and come to terms with herself. In general, the author undoubtedly shows psychological "tendencies" and if she lived in today's times... well, I would tell her that I found examples of reflection, clarification, fight and flight mode, cognitive dissonance, etc. (and to be super honest, prejudices and stereotypes too :D). I would be grateful for recommendations of such psychological novels. It would be great if it was also a morally uplifting book.

So sorry for my late respons! That's a very specific novel you're looking for. I think you might enjoy Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. It's not from the same time period, but fits your description pretty well.
