Thank you. Ugh! 52 female trying to hang a bathroom door following This old House video. Forgot how crappy my place was built.(found a 1970s soda can in my neighbors dryer duct that feeds into my crawl space when I cleaned it out. And the other doors and products in here…..such crap) ….I thought I was Nuts until I finally Put a level along the wall and realized why it wasn’t working on the striker side……. I so miss quality anything-humans & products. Building stuff is so much more fun when it’s all square-lol

Well done and said. I’ve been a trim carpenter 40 years and this problem is happening in brand new builds still today. Some builders simply don’t walk through their homes with a level and make the framers fix this crap. Compound miter those corners a tad too. 😅
@MidAgedDad24 күн бұрын
Right on! I’ve got a newer video on compound miters and some other trim work you light like.

I'm doing this right now in Alaska, bugs in the woods and side of road half mile from my house. Not quite the same terrain at all but appreciate the concept of plumb. Took the whole structure up the road to my house and laid it out on driveway to re drill holes in new post. Get it back to the roadside? It will get done one way or other, with some help or not. I don't know what I'm doing with the drilling the holes into the 4x4 and looked on here to find out. I'm not a carpenter, I'm a do-all housekeeper beyond retirement age. Plumb video. Thank you.

I had this same problem and was about to give up and head to a mechanic to swap out either the latch or the cable. But then I watched your video. So, I had my wife yank the hood handle all the way up, and I slid a shoe horn through the gap and lifted it. And bam, the hood popped open. I followed your advice, sprayed some WD-40 and grease, and boom, problem solved! Thank you so much!

If you have a post that is buried in concrete, hit it 10 times with a sledgehammer to break the underground concrete around the post. Then dig and remove the broken concrete. You can also hit the exposed concrete with the sledgehammer. Hit the post a few times again with the sledge hammer, dig some more, repeat the process. Eventually, you will be able to pull the post out of the ground.
