Very good explanation! Thanks man! I have a question: (maybe the audience can tell also…) so in many kickboxing movies AND in my newly bought book of a german master in kickboxing its taught you should first raise your knee to your body then - like a clapping move - kick it to the opponent / boxingsack when turning your hips in… in the video its shown like one move but not raising the knee first - whats right?

I’ve done boxing before and recently switched to kick-boxing and tbh its really different. The coach at our gym teaches us that we shouldn’t start engaging with kicks, is it true? Also is it more wise to wait for a counter punch or engage first, if so, how would you start the combo?
@martialartsunlimited019 күн бұрын
I've also had different coaches approach this topic from opposite sides. I would say trust your coach, they are the one working directly with you and when you start sparring then maybe experiment and see what works for you. The one thing I do tell my own students is to try your best to be 50/50. Blend your punches and kicks as best as possible.

You can, just be aware of the kicks. Most kickboxers are using a basic boxing stance.

You cannot, you must feel the preassure of your opponent streight
@martialartsunlimited01Ай бұрын
I cannot what? Got reps in on a bag. You don't think that can help your skills? Why not?
@KONRRAD_KURZE930Ай бұрын
@martialartsunlimited01 work only for review yes, but to improve you cannot, you do not gain reflex because the punching bag does not respond to the blow, you need to feel the impact of the opponent's kahoi to strengthen your wrists, you need to lose the fear of being hit and when they hit you knowing that it was due to poor defense, too open, too given
@boing-slingstudios3747Ай бұрын
You can definitely improve your skills on a bag. It’s the same as bag work in Muay Thai or boxing. He is not talking about sparring. The bag also works the wrist just because of impact and you can train it further if you isolate that in training
@KONRRAD_KURZE930Ай бұрын
@@boing-slingstudios3747 Call me old school, but no you can't, and I'm not talking about sparring, I'm talking about training 12 teros whith answer, preasure walking exercises, disarm exercises, changing distances exercises

I wonder if Wing Chun wouldn't be the best in a street fight. Before someone can grapple you or hit you, a wing chun would throw the opponent's hands off balance and then poke the opponent in the eyes, very quickly then over

MMA is not a standalone art. It’s just as the name suggests it’s a combination of arts, arts that are in the list and don’t score high on their own. To be truly well rounded you need some form of stand up art, (my preference is Muay Thai), and you need some ground work, (preference is submission wrestling, “Catch wrestling”, or even Judo. Even if you don’t get good submissions at bare minimum you need takedown defense, and a focus on topside control.
@martialartsunlimited01Ай бұрын
Agreed, but as people today can join a MMA class, that is why I made it's own thing. New people joining MMA are not learning Jiu-Jitsu for grappling, kickboxing for striking, wrestling for takedowns. We've done all that for them and now I think a lot of people look at MMA as its own style.

@ karate or taekwondo always keep you hungry for more in my opinion, especially when you get promoted to a new belt. Muay Thai or boxing on the other hand yes you will get better in martial arts but in the end there is nothing to accomplish. (My opinion)
@HEAVENTWAАй бұрын
I would venture to say that one of the main things that makes muay thai so good are their clinching techniques. I don't know any, but they look so sophisticated and hard to defend against. There are so many of them.
@martialartsunlimited01Ай бұрын
The clinch techniques are good, the only issue much like with Judo or something like that is there must be that close connection, which can go badly in a hurry.
