My great-uncle was a member of this crew (TSgt Charles Zschiesche) but was not on the training mission that ended in this crash. He was back in Topeka being trained on the new Emerson nose turret being installed in the H-model B-24s coming off the line at Willow Run in Michigan, along with the ball turret gunner and tail turret gunner. He was also the assistant radio operator, but not needed on the training flight. After the crash, he was reassigned to aircraft 42-7470, the fifth H-model to come off the assembly line. That crew (the Clifford crew) was deployed with the 392nd Bomb Group to Wendling England, and was shot down on a bombing mission to Vegesack Germany October 8, 1943. They went down over the North Sea, remains not recovered (Missing Air Crew Report, MACR 00879) The Meeker crew members who you honored were his friends. Thank you for creating and posting this video tribute.

Buddy of mine had one of these back in the day, early 70s if I remember correctly. Somebody had put a 440 in it with dusl quads. Being a Sport Fury it had the beautiful tricolor interior with bucket seats, console with the rear seats having the bucket seat look. Beautiful car. One day he came by my place with a couple of friends and wanted to "show" me something. I got in the car and he main rag a we drove a mile or so to a few blocks from the city limits where the approach to the cross street was pretty steep. About teo blocks from that he slowed down because the light at the intersection was red. "Hang on a sec" he said as we creeped along in first gear. Then the light turn green and he floored that big 440. I don't know how fast we got going but when we hit that approach we literally flew over four lanes and crunched down to the suspension bump stops the other side. I told him ne was crazy and he took me back home. Not to long after that he windowed the block. Never saw the car again

Just blown away at the attention to detail, craftsmanship, and fortitude. A five-year build! Gotta wonder if you at some point you wanted to toss in the towel. I could go on and on about this beauty. We had a '64 sport convertible back in HS with the 361 auto. When I say we, it was friends pooling our funds so we'd have a weekend cruiser. It was no slouch and in pretty decent shape. Back then you could buy future classics for next to nothing. What a blast to drive. I'd like to know what your background was to create such a sweetheart ride. Also a line or two about painting it (garage)? This is my 1st experience with your site so I will dig a little deeper. As a lifelong Mopar fan, this was one of those often overlooked models if I am correct. Anyways, congrats on an A-One build. The only thing I'd change is the wheels but I am not a fan of any of the new ones. Really loved the ralleys like I had on my '65 Coronet.

Funny, while this is a cool car, our family car was a 1968 ford torino squire. It was that green you talk about with the fake wood on the side, but it had a 390 balanced and blueprinted with a mild cam (and Glasspacks from our muffler shop) and it pulled out 23' wilderness trailer up any grade without over heating past anyone and everyone. Had a 4 speed and my dad, "Red" freeman Goodmundson who had track records at the old infamous Lions Drag strip later chopped the flywheel and did a few other light mods and dragged it at OCIR till they closed it. Its crazy because My dad got sober and about a year later a drunk driver totaled that wagon when it was parked in front of My dads Muffler shop. Thanks for a the memory stimulator.

I have a chance to get one of these right now. It’s in decent shape. Has some minor rust in the floors but runs and drivers fine. I own nothing but mopars so far,but thought it looked cool and would be a great daily driver and be good for hauling stuff. I’m guessing the 302 would get about the same mileage as a 318?
