The new recruits, including Eren, are mostly 15yo. Some maybe 1-2 years older, but Eren is 15yo. Armin didn't say random thing, he purposely said that to distract the female titan so Jean could escape. He knew that female titan is after Eren, so he's using that fact and said that female titan accidentally killed him on the right flank. And he was right, it did distract the female titan.

If you try to see from the Military Police's perspective, it's not a crazy idea to want to eliminate Eren. We fully support Eren only because we follow Eren's journey from the beginning, and we knew that he is the main char of this anime. So obviously he won't have any ill will towards humanity, right right?? 😄 But these people knew nothing about Eren, except for Mikasa and Armin who are his childhood friends. All they knew is that Eren can transform into a titan, the very being that has been suppressing humanity and putting humanity in constant fear for more than a century. And also, Eren doesn't seem to have total control of his titan power, like Erwin said in eps 14. Not to mention that the civilians are divided into 2 sides now, those who fear Eren might do a sneak attack on humanity from the inside, and those who think of Eren as a great ally to humanity. This alone, according to MP, might spark a civil war. And MP's main job is to keep the peace inside the walls. That's why Nile Dawk, MP's commander, wanted Eren to be eliminated 'as a hero' to prevent this civil war. Everyone's action and decision in this show is totally understandable. That's just how realistic this show is.

Hi kimi! enjoying your reactions (because you seem to pick things up pretty good)! wish they come out quicker since i like to binge xD. To clarify your earlier question, the Survey Corps, Military Police, and the Garrison are all military factions with equal standing that fall under the military hierarchy. Each faction has a Commander, and theres also a Premier or like a commander in chief that leads all three factions (he'll be introduced later). For example, you've already met the bald guy who drinks (Pixis), he's the Commander for the Garrison (i think for the southern section since the civilization is huge). And you've just met the Commander for the Survey Corps (Erwin). Each has a different function: Garrison for general military functions within the walls, and the Military Police who goes to the center to protect higher ups (thats why they pick the best trained recruits). And finally, the Survey Corps goes and explores the outside. Due to this, not many actually want to join them because their survival rate is low, and thus, they're a much smaller organization. Hope that clears things up!
