Good morning folks, Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I had a quiet evening just me and the gold fish. They had an extra helping of fish food for the occasion and a couple drop of pink champagne, they are under age. Just came back from attending the sing along Handel’s Messiah at the Davis Symphony Hall last night. I did not know you can get laryngitis from lip sync. Make a pot of lemon, honey green tea this morning. I think I might be coming down with a cold. Last night it was freezing in San Francisco, this is usual in this time of the year. By brother invited me to his Christmas party on Christmas Eve. He wanted me to cook dinner for the party. Asked to make up the menu. I planning to roast a rack of lamb cooked in rosemary and peppermint herbs. I told him to pick up the lamb at the local butcher shop and not at the little manger in Bethlehem. (wrong time of the season.) Chinese Broccoli with stir fried Jumbo Prawns. Agar gelatin top with Crème de Menthe. That is going to be the menu what do you folks think? Just finished shopping for Christmas even though my brother said don’t get them anything I can’t help it. It is in my blood to give. I just ordered a digital piano as a gift for myself for Christmas it was on sale at Amazon. Finally I going to learn how to play the piano. There are a few songs I want to learn before I pass over to the other side. I been spending a lot for Christmas this year have to stop buying stuff for myself and say it’s Christmas. I have way passed over my limit. (Six presents for me) My philosophy for shopping Christmas gifts for people is, one for you and three for me., it’s the 1/3 ratio Anyway hope you folks have a great weekend. Joy, peace on earth 🌟🙏🙏🙏🎉🥂🍾🎄☃️❄️🎁🎁🎊

If don’t want to wait in line do what a Senator did he pull the fire alarm. Mom taught me how to cook Cantonese style oysters. Prepping the oysters was the hardest part of making this Cantonese oyster dish but you can taste how clean your oysters taste. That is one thing about how I was taught how to cook by my mother, It’s about the prep work before cooking the dish. But it does make a big difference to compare the two styles of cooking. I have a delicate stomach it will let me know it it is fresh or not. Enjoy your weekend.✨🥂🍾🎉

😆🤣😂 🔥🚨😳 I wouldn’t know how to shuck oysters 🦪🦪🦪🦪🦪 lol. When I went to the oyster farm/ restaurant in Seattle I saw people buying fresh oysters and taking it home. They had two different prices as is / shucked. The difference was quite big about double. I know you can also do steamed oysters unshucked, but those were such good/ fresh quality oysters 🦪 they would be best eaten fresh. I love 🦪🦪🦪🦪🦪😆💜
@DavidChow-n4xАй бұрын
My little brother loves oysters he always begging me to make oysters whenever he comes for a visit. There is a point on side of his head where I used for to shucked the oyster shell, he seems to don’t mind it, because he loves to eat oysters so much. 🤣 He doesn’t know how to cook to well. Just can opener or nuclear power cooking, His wife only does one thing, that is salads. That is what my sister-in-law believes will keep her slim and trim. I call it Starvation Diet or Psychosomatic Dieting. 🤢🤮 The interesting part on your video was seeing what is in the oysters dish. That’s how mom and I try to do is to figure out the ingredients in our favorite dish when we go to eat out. Whenever we order our favorite dish, we would dissect the component and compare notes on what we think they use for seasoning. Basically we are reconstructing the dish. We don’t believe in that philosophy, “Don’t play with your food.” Afterwards we compare notes, and try making it at home. Generally we get pretty close duplicating the recipe at home. As a child I love reading detective stories like Sherlock Holmes this helps me to be more analytical and logical in trying to figuring out things. The last time I went to Vegas was during final week when I was at ACCD. I had finished all of my final project early and Circus,Circus 🤡 🎪had a deal for the weekend. All room was $19 dollars on the weekend but you have to stay for three nights. What better way to unwind than to go to Vegas. I calculated that my last class was on Friday afternoon so after class I hop on my car drove to Vegas to spend three nights in Vegas and watching the people walk around and gamble and having fun that’s if they are winning. I also went visiting Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Didn’t have pockets money to gamble, but that will be another story. (I’m not a gamblers,) I do get lucky when I do give it a try.. (I guess I have a six sense, I become one with the “Force”, something like that, but I think it has to do more of being analytical luck.) The Prime Rib dinner at Circus, Circus 🤡🎪was just $10 dollars , that’s if you like boiled Prime Rib, and you have to stay at Circus, Circus 🤡🎪for that weekend special, and you can’t take leftovers to your room. Being me, I managed. If you are ever faced with boiled roast cooking, always order rare to raw. The flavor of the meat doesn’t boiled away, (advice from chef and butcher son) The only thing was I had to check out early 5 am Monday morning in order to make it to my morning class. I was pretty relax when I got to my first class. I didn’t care what they had to say about my project, I was, Mellow Yellow. My classmate couldn’t understand why I wasn’t wired up they thought it was kind of weird but then they always thought I was weird, they ask me how was my weekend? Thinking I had an all nighter. Told them I drove to Vegas to chill out. (he is weird.)🤪 Told them I went and visited Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, the looking at their bloodshot eyes told me they must have had an all nighter. I can only remember having two all nighter while I was at ACCD. Those were interesting times. I still can’t figure out how I manage finished and graduated from ACCD? I guess through the Grace of God. 🌟🙏 Hope you folks are enjoying your weekend. Take care. 🙏🎉🥂🍾🥶🥶🥶🥶 It is freezing here. Last night it was 41-46 degrees. Today they expect to be 47-51 tonight. Still haven’t figured out how does the thermostat work after living that the new house for 10 years. “I had to go get the latest system.” (Keep it simple stupid, that was what my drill sergeant always said me.) 🤪

@@DavidChow-n4x 🤡🎪 room was $19 dollars? The Prime Rib dinner at Circus, Circus 🤡🎪was just $10 dollars? wow talking about inflation lol. final week at Vegas? lol I can relate, the final week is super stressful the stress needs to be released some how. I always felt pulling an all night never worked for me. I ended up staying awake for whole night but I would be so tired I actually would not be as productive as I would think. it was more of heat in the moment, feeling like I had to stay all night. couple ore days to the weekend! cheers!

@ Doing all nighter takes strategy. I would have my pot of hot coffee next to me and a pair of Q-tips to keep my eyelid propped open just in case and a pair of earplugs music blasting away, and go to sleep as soon I get home and wake up in the early hours of the morning. (1-2 am)🥱 It has been raining and windy up here. At night still around 50 degrees. Finally we have rain, let nature water my outdoor garden. Water bill is extremely high here because we had to buy our water from SF. 🌬️🌧️☔️ Just getting ready for Christmas this weekend. I going to start decorating. Already have all my Christmas DVD pull and all my Christmas CD pull. Started writing my Christmas cards. Still thinking about getting tickets to the sing along Handel’s Messiah at Davis Symphony Hall but as I’m getting older I don’t like being around large crowds. Too many wild turkeys driving in the street.🦃 Already started to buy Christmas presents for myself. 😂 Take care you folks and have a fantastic weekend. 🎉🥂🍾🎄☃️❄️ 🥶🥶🥶 Don’t tell anybody this, but I have a confession to make, I used some of the leftover scholarship money from that semester for the trip to Vegas. I feel relief in telling someone who went to ACCD. I’ve been feeling guilty all these years. Now I can rest in peace. ⚰️ (I did really needed to unwind) Now about that story about not being a gambler, the night before I was to leave Vegas. I dreamt I was playing a slot machines and hit the Jackpot. Well as I was leaving the Casino that early morning. I had two dollars in my pocket. As I passed by this huge slot machines and decided to put a dollar into the machine and pull the lever. Three “7” came up, I’m waiting for all the bells and whistle and all that money to come out of the machine, nothing happened? Upon reading the instructions you have to put in three coins into the machine in order to win. So much for not reading instruction first, I only put in one coin and got nothing. Disgusted I put in my last coin and pull the leaver, guess what? Three “7” came up. I cry as I was leaving the Casino and made my way to my car in the garage. 😥 😩😩 Moral of the story, read the directions first, before you go ahead and do things. 😩

@ My Aunt Louise lives in Phoenix AZ. Interesting story. Uncle Frank side of the family were the famous “Ong” family. The “Ong” were the first Chinese family to settle in a little town called Phoenix AZ. Being Asian they bought acres of desert land around Phoenix area. This was back in the mid 1800’s. At least that was told to me by Uncle Frank, The family also opened the first supermarket and a bowling alley in Phoenix, That was the first time I ever bow, Uncle Frank taught me. He told me I was a natural, my first game was 110. It was also the first time I had America food. Freshly made hamburgers, French fries, homemade milk shakes. The strawberry milk shake was divine. I remember having three full shake after all I was a growing boy of ten. Mom and Dad sent us to Phoenix because mom was just about to give birth to the spoiled brat. 🤣 That was back in the mid 50’s They didn’t open a restaurant or laundromat. Think Uncle Frank was first generation Chinese American. My first two semesters at ACCD was tough. By father passed away on my first semester. This left mom alone and had no one to take care of the family business. Dad asked me to look after mom after I graduated from ACCD and take care of the family business. I was worried about her, whether I should quit ACCD and return my scholarship and go back to work to support her. Dad wanted me to get my degree and make me promise to him to finish my education at ACCD and afterwards take care of mother. So that was what I did, I promise dad to finished school and afterwards took care of mother, that was what I ended up doing. The road was a hard one but looking back I was glad I make the right decision, it work out. I was glad I was able to make some changes while I was at ACCD. The school had become too stressful at ACCD. So I decided to try to change that to and eased the tension and make it a less strenuous of a school. What I did was to setup a dim sum parties at the beginning of each new semester and one at the end of the semester, after finals where we can let out steam. The professor were great, they thought it was a great idea, and that they can have an opinion to get to know their students better. Unfortunately most of the students didn’t want to participate just a few students and the professors. In the end the professor would bring guests speakers in hope to draw more students. It didn’t work out but the professor and I had a great time. We would have lectures on the topic like: “ Modern day design and what direction it is it heading? The guest speaker was the leader in the field. (We would have fascinating conversations.) Plus it was fun to teach them all about Chinese dim sum and the Chinese culture. (We had a blast. I miss those days) The only rule was everyone must pay the luncheon even if you are not eating. Even the President of ACCD had to pay, no exceptions, except one, the guest speaker don’t have to pay for their luncheon. 🤣 I miss those professors they had helped me out a lot. They also knew my circumstances with my loss. The last semester before graduation I had to set up over ten banquet tables, that was over hundred people who wanted to participate in our last gathering. The topic: “How to prepare your portfolio, while looking for a job.” That lecture was a long one, it lasted for five hours. We had such a good time we ended up having dinner there also. 🤣 Fun time, miss those days but still had those fond memory. 🥲

@ 🥟🎉🍾🥂? Lol Sounds like a lot of fun. I’ve always been more reserved and bit private, I have few friends from accd I still keep in touch. I think it is normal that people are super stressed at accd. I can’t think of one semester or critique where I was relaxed and felt like I got this. Accd was constantly pushing bars, testing my edge and seeing all these crazy talented people around me. Also constantly hearing who is getting what job, who is working with whom and people are not returning bc they end up doing so well for them selves and so on. I still do miss my accd days sometimes, I really was able to give my undivided attention toward my work and I feel I need to go back to that state of mind. Need to push my self to that zone again. Uncle Frank lol how marvelous story he has. I never really had an uncle or aunt that close. I feel may be because my mother never had sisters, then my dad was youngest from his family my brother and I were never that close with any of the cousins either. The English expression I think you were thinking of at 11:44 is "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". Sometimes, when I'm feeling mischievous, I like to add "but only if you throw it hard enough..."

Lol I know the expression 🍎, but there was no apple so I meant to say fruit.

Hello, hope you folks are having a great weekend. I love seeing the art exhibit since I can’t get around to the museum anymore. I used to spend hours in the museum taking notes and studying the great masters brushes strokes. Just finished designing the logo for Space X. Funny when I took a look that the old logo and it looks somewhat like, it looks similar to each other. Yikes, that’s why I never looked at the original logo so I don’t get influenced. Creative mind sometimes has the same creative solution. The image is different but the typeface looks similar. Time to come up with a new typeface. Next step is to choose the color and finalized the logo and inked it in black and white since I don’t have a computer so everything has to be done by hand. Boy it is warm up here in Northern California. It around 80’s. Just harvest my potatoes for the first time. Manage to get twenty potatoes growing in a pot. They look edible going to make a vegetable soup. It only took three months for it to grow. My tomatoes plant is coming along just replanted to a larger pot. Growing your own food does give you a sense of accomplishment. This week I able to set up a small fish tank, a 3 gallon for a Beta fish or what they call “Siamese Fighting Fish.” They have a beautiful and colorful tail but you can only have one male fish or they will fight. Love to see those wiggly octopus tentacle on the plate. Remind me of those fresh lambs eyeballs. You folks enjoy your weekend and have a blessed Sunday.🙏🙏🙏🥵🥵🥵🥐🥐🥐🥮🥮🍺🍺🍺

It’s really hot in my area. It’s in 90s. I was at LAX few days ago and it’s was 70s there I don’t know what is going on. I can only predict another earthquake is bound this way. It’s October not supposed to be in 90s. 🍅🥔😌👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 that is very exciting. I’ve never been interested in growing my own food but I do enjoy planting my flower bulbs in fall. My anemones and ranunculuses. Last year I plant some new irises and they didn’t do so well so I kind of need to figure what to do with them. I might need to do thicker bedding or move them I don’t know. I love fall and winter, that’s when I get excited about next year’s spring blooms and also I get to take break from watering plants. Hope we get good rain this winter. Hope you are having a beautiful weekend 🙌🏼🩵

Hi folks, Hope you folks had a nice week . The Italian restaurant reminds me of North Beach in San Francisco where I used to hang out. All the old timers are gone. But there are a few old restaurants still there. I miss the Italian community and my friends. When I was younger I always get my cheek pinched by old waitress at “New Pisa Restaurant.” They were great. I miss them all they would dress up in their black and white waitresses uniforms. As you folks enter the restaurant the door of the Italian restaurant it kind of reminds me of a speak easy joint in North Beach. I can remember dad used to purchase cooking wine from the basement of the house in North Beach. Two knock on the door waiting awhile and one knock. One gallon of cooking wine. They would make in the basement bathtub, Interesting how I can still remember these things. I always did have a good memory. Even went I was in college I can regurgitate a chapter of the text book. That was one of my spiritual gift I have. Not now though. Plus I like to do things once and never forget it how to put things together again. I love Seattle, I can remember the first time I went up there. It was when I was in the Navy reserve. You see every summer we would play war games for two weeks , this time around we were going to play war games up in the Northwest Territories Seattle, Vancouver area. Seattle is a lot like San Francisco back then. Seattle was the port of entry when my father came to the United States from China, all my himself. He was thirteen, can you imagine that. Now that was adventurous. I love visiting the Public Market, they have so many food and restaurants and shops. It reminds me of a street Market in Los Angeles near Chinatown. Used to hang out there while I was in college. The food was good and the prices were right for a student budget. I also try the restaurant at the Seattle Space Needle although the food wasn’t good and the prices were expensive. Also love visiting Victoria, Busch Garden and Vancouver Chinatown. Those were fond memories especially catching fresh salmon off of a Navy boat. Anyway enjoy your weekend and take care. Oh, Happy Autumn Moon Festival.🍁🥂🍾🥮🎉

It is always nice to hear from you. I haven't heard from you for few weeks and I wondered where you went. Pleasant memories will give me a smile anytime of the day. Isn't that what we live for! I am glad I woke some of your memories and hope they were mostly pleasant. We had very intense week, and now we need to rest. Hope you had a good Autumn Moon festival, I didn't have chance to see the moon my self. How was the moon this year? Please take care! 🌝🥮🍁🥂🍾🎉

@@hopescape6697 The full moon was spectacular. The evening sky was clear and with the large windows (13 ft. high) just watching the moon raise and having loo long tea along with eating moon cake was very relaxing. I can only handle half a one cake because they are pretty rich and fatting . Us guys has to watch our manly figure. 😱 The reason why you hadn’t heard from me was my cousin passed away and I was trying to comfort my two cousins. He pass away way too young but at least he not suffering anymore. Now some happy thoughts, Finally finished decorating the house for Halloween. I love the Autumn Season there are so many activity during the fall and winter. I have to watch my spending decoration house for Halloween. It was one of my favorite time of the year. I feel like a kid again going door to door asking for treats. Now days it handing out candy to the kids. This year I am buying some Croissant and dipping in white chocolate and put two dots for eyes am calling it: “The Ghostly Croissant.” just to celebrated Halloween. Since I have a sweet tooth I generally stock up on candy for the year during Halloween. Enjoy your weekend 🍁🥮🥂🍾🥐👻🎃

I do love autumn 🍂 love traveling to the spot where they have beautiful autumn leaves. I might skip decorating my house this holiday season, it was never that same after my dad passed. Ps. @@hopescape6697 I am really, really sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is really hard. We have fond memories of them. I often think of them when I celebrate the holidays. I try to remember them during the holidays and buy presents 🎁 for myself since my brothers doesn’t celebrate the holidays with me. Don’t stop celebrating the holidays they wouldn’t want that. They want you to be happy and have happy through about them. I can remember all the funny moments that happened together. Just remember they don’t want you folks to be sad. They want you folks to be happy and celebrate life. You folks take care and try to remember all the happy times you folks had together with them. Take each day one day at a time. Eating moon cake helps a lot.🥮🥮🥮🥮 Take care and hang in there I will be praying for your family.

Canlis sits just off the end of the Aurora bridge. In 2015 there was a terrible accident when a vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a tour bus resulting in 5 fatalities. The bridge was closed for many hours during which the Canlis staff brought food to the responders and victims. Indeed the staff made personal connections with some victims, visiting them in the hospital and inviting them to the restaurant. Canlis is more than a 5 star restaurant, it is a community asset and treasure. I’ve had the privilege of dining there on multiple occasions.
