Martin 🫠❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 I just adore him! His voice is just so beautiful i guess it matches the rest of him, the most beautiful creature in the Universe, i don't know if he's human or an angel, a god, but he's just to die for!!!! I keep hearing all his demos and there are so many songs I prefer his voice in, no disrespect to Dave because he is the best frontman I've ever seen, but Martin has my heart and soul.

Мартин большой талант в написании стихов к своим песням. На этом все, он не музыкант. Его домо версии - это сырой пилотный вариант. Алан из этих никчемных обрубков, как настоящий музыкант, делал хиты.

Are you sure "he isn't musician"? I just want to notice all melodies are already in this demo, Alan Wilder rearranged drums, and changed arrangement of sounds and melodies but they are still written by Martin Gore.

Lots of demos of the genius Martin Gore kills the 'Alan Wilder myth'. Lyrics, melodies, chords, synth lines, everything is there. Martin Gore is the only one.

Enjoy The Silence Depeche Mode Words like violence Break the silence Come crashing in Into my little world Painful to me Pierce right through me Can't you understand? Oh, my little girl All I ever wanted All I ever needed is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm Vows are spoken To be broken Feelings are intense Words are trivial Pleasures remain So does the pain Words are meaningless And forgettable All I ever wanted All I ever needed is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm All I ever wanted All I ever needed is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm All I ever wanted All I ever needed is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm Enjoy the silence

As a musician I gotta admit that I have a great fondess for the demos before the mixing/production process. There is a real intimacy captured on a demo recording. You don't get the full studio experience, but what you get is pure, raw, uncut and unprocessed musicianship! Listening back to old demos reminds me of just why I live to create. One can spend hours on songs like these only to produce half a dozen minutes or less of music. But every hour spent has been worth it!

The album version wins it but listen to the Live acoustic version when Martin plays it in San Francisco during the Violator tour… it may sound if not better just as good as the album.

Martin is an amazing ideas man ,he comes out with the tunes and Alan wilder turns them into the songs they are ,DM wouldn’t have been the same without Alan and they were never as good when he left in 95 after SOFAD. Check out the demo of enjoy the silence and it was Alan wilder that turned it into the song it became.

I'm not going down on my knees begging you to adore me Can't you see it's misery and torture for me When I'm misunderstood try as hard as you can I've tried as hard as I could To make you see how important it is for me Here is a plea from my heart to you Nobody knows me as well as you do You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these Understand me Understand me Understand me Understand me Some people want to be Permanently together Lovers devoted To each other forever That's not what I mean That's not for us We want a different scene But when I'm not there In spirit I'll be there Here is a plea from my heart to you Nobody knows me as well as you do You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these Understand me Understand me Understand me Understand me Here is a plea from my heart to you Nobody knows me as well as you do You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these Here is a plea from my heart to you Nobody knows me as well as you do You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these Here is a plea from my heart to you Nobody knows me as well as you do You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these

I always loved this song. They often joke in the band that they would release it as a single because they don't seem to like it that much, but I truly think it would have made an amazing single release. I just love that song so much. People often say that DM owed a lot to Alan Wilder and he was good yes. But there would have been no Depeche Mode at all after 1982 if it wasn't for Martin's. All the great songs he wrote are no fluke or luck, just raw talent for writing. And I believe Alan was responsible for a lot of the most darker side of DM, a darkness that wasn't there in the beggining before Alan's influence became more important (look at See You and a lot of The Broken Frame stuff). But sometimes Alan was right, Enjoy The Silence wouldn't have been the same without him that's for sure that's why together there was a unique and marvelous balance from 83 to 93.
