My Winnebago has a pre-drilled roof access port. Check yours as many manufacturers do this. If not, drilling a hole isn’t as bad as it seems although it’s understandably nerve wracking. Use a good cable gland and recommended adhesive+sealant.

Have you ever used the F6 for your rec dives? F8 and MK3 are out of my price range. I’m primarily an endurance runner but I’m also a rescue diver (more shallow water - 30ft max) so I was looking into the F6 which is rated to 100m but not recommended for diving so it was a bit misleading.
@TheBigHeavy29 күн бұрын
I think I’ve worn a past Garmin during a rec scuba dive, and I’ve swam with the Fenix series a ton in both pool and open water. They won’t work as a dive computer obviously, and they recommend against pressing buttons under water, but I would imagine you’ll be fine to 30’ish feet as long as you’re not constantly hitting buttons at depth.

What is nice about the adapter is that you can charge the unit from an EV car charger if your are traveling or if your power is out, you can go to an area that has power and charge for that EV charger. They do need to make their own tesla adapter..... This adapter feature is very important to me.... Plus it charges at 3200 W which is a meager 15 amp at 220 V. Now charging at 6000 W that would be nice.... or the full 50 Amps????? Wow.

Seems like a good thing for corded electric chainsaws as the cordless electric battery chain saws are considered good if they have 6 minutes of saw time on one charge. These cordless batteries are a weight you have to hold up, and are expensive and brand locked with really limited saw time. The battery power stations are so much more versatile. Good for any kind of work away from an outlet. Good to know about the beep and to be aware that if stuff bogs down, you want to quit and figure it out before you blow something up. Problem with saws is you probably won't hear the beep until it is too late. It is still good to know these power stations are prepared to deal with a normal load, no problem, if not bogging down. I have heard some naysayers.

I haven't tried it. I've seen a fair number of people diving with Suunto computers so clearly they're doing something right. How accurate is the hiking track thing. Because I talked recently with a person who had the Fenix 5 (I know, it's old), and he said that the sport acitivity tracking is horrible. They actually *do* show what example layouts cost. (Also, pro tip for folks who want this but don't want it to cost a kidney: go for shelves rather than cabinets to keep the price down. Full transparency - I'm still considering cabinets).
@TheBigHeavyАй бұрын
Yes, there are some examples on the website, and they have a nice glossy magazine with layouts. I was hoping the designer would provide some "tweaked" examples based on what I told her I wanted to do, but perhaps I was expecting too much. You're right that the shelves are much cheaper, but the cabinets are really nice. It's one of those "forget about the purchase price but remember the quality" each time I use them, which is on a daily basis. It's still a total gut punch when you see the first quote.
@jandekker6008Ай бұрын
@@TheBigHeavy I'd agree with nearly all that based on my experience so far. I'm looking at a two-wall setup in my home office and my guy has been good at suggesting various different layouts upfront. So the gut punch varies in intensity. He put cabinets in some of the layouts, which I thought was maybe sly upselling, but they do look sooo nice. I've been a fan for a long time, having got four wide shelves some years ago and always promised myself more. So I'm a pretty easy customer!
@TheBigHeavyАй бұрын
I realize I'm spending someone else's money by suggesting you consider the cabinets, so apologies for that and I'm just some dumb guy on the internet so factor that into the equation. That said, one of my favorite (that I show a bit of in the video) is the drop front cabinet, since you get a little bit of a "workspace" when the cab front is down. I wouldn't put a ton of stuff on there, but I have all my little camera and electronic knick knacks in there, and it's nice to drop the lid and have somewhere to empty out that various bins I keep in there, and assemble whatever adapters and little gadgets I need. A final pro tip is to get a buddy if you're going to get cabinets. Those suckers are heavy and it's easy to bang up your walls trying to install one by yourself.
@jandekker6008Ай бұрын
@@TheBigHeavy Luckily I have a primary domestic stakeholder to help with heavy lifting. I've also been thinking of treating myself to Vitsoe's own installers, though feel I should really be able to do it myself. That spirit level is such a simple idea, yet such a lifesaver for the amateur DIYer.

@TheBigHeavy2 ай бұрын
Fenix 8 gives you the new UI (still somewhat buggy from what I've heard, but theoretically the future of Garmin's flagship watches), new HR sensor that does the EKG stuff, microphone so you can answer calls on your watch (my wife has this on her venue and uses it occasionally), and basic dive functionality. The MK3i gives you air integration, multi-gas capabilities including trimix and CCR, dive readiness, and apnea hunt but loses all that other Fenix 8-specific stuff. My understanding of apnea hunt is that it's basically the same as apnea but with all the beeps turned off so you don't scare the fish you're trying to bag. Theoretically you could setup regular apnea mode with no noises and have the same thing. For me, the air integration is a big deal. Fenix 8 could get apnea hunt and some of the other stuff added as it's software, but will never get air integration as it's a hardware feature.

To my knowledge, Garmin doesn't make an integrated front/rear dash cam like some of the other companies do. That said, their "Drive" app will supposedly play and sync video from 4 garmin cams. You could also just pull video and sync the timestamps if you had an incident and wanted to see multiple angles. There is power you can tap into behind the rear seats. Check out my video on the radio install and you can see what I mean.
