5 options, now I know what the High Road looks like. Maxwell Mountain, that road had way too much county money invested in building it for it to become gated off and privatized from time to time (that was one time county rd, its on my GPS). There is days of fun in there being denied most of the time. Thanks for scouting what you can more conveniently check out than the rest of us.

@@Thinwater The county doesn't have the authority to do that. By federal law, any public road remains a public road forever.I know the county and the state don't think so, which is a sad situation. But that federal law supersedes the state and county, and the courts have upheld it right here in north Alabama among other places.

Had mine for 3 years now, never had an issue other than the lower and upper becoming a bit loose. I managed to apply a spacer inbetween and now i have no rattle. I also cut, grinded and sprayed the stock so it can fit a mil spec stock. I wouldnt recommend any internal mods as it breaks the internal parts. Probably the best gun ive ever owned. I also have a glock 17 gen 4 but that is ass! Ive had to buy 3 mags that all started to leak after 2 mags. Its just a paper weight now. Ive just ordered a HDX 68 40j. Should be fun

I bought my first H&R shotgun, ( a .410 Topper ) back in the late 1970's., which I later sold off. Then I bought an NEF in 12 gauge at K-Mart back in the mid-1980's, for $ 95.00. Used it to hunt Blacktail deer with, using rifled slugs. Still have that one. Then I bought another used NEF, from my local Black Powder shop, for MUCH more in the 2000's, after H&R/NEF went out of business. I also have a single-shot, break open 12 gauge, from a pawn shop, for, ( if I remember correctly) $85.00. Made in S.Korea and imported. Only fires 2 3/4" shells, where the NEF/ H&R 12 gauges fire both 2 3/4", and 3" shotgun shells. Through the NEF's I have fired Pyrodex, and purchased and used a Short Lane 12 gauge adapter in .45 Colt. Excellent firearms for a backwoodsman like myself, for their versatility, simplicity, and robustness.

I found my family member's old rusted NEF Pardner SB1. After an hour of sanding and polishing, I brought it back to life. Gorgeous little cheap shottie. A great truck or farm gun. I think they paid $90 for it brand new back in 1995 at Dick's Sporting Goods. lol The actual gun is hardened steel (look at the coloration @3:37) compared to the barrel. The wood is solid and beautiful Walnut. Every home should have one of these just based on price alone. Great beginner shotgun and super easy to maintain. If you see one online or in a pawn shop for under $150, talk them down 20 bucks and buy it!

Anyway the mother superior just got her ham license! shes 78yo. I have been going over there working on there water collection system . They told me a couple of days ago they are gettin a LP antennae and could I set it up for them. I used to do that back in the 80s so I said sure. I have an old tabletop Sangean SW with a long copper wire mounted and grounded to a big tree branch set up on a carabiner I can rotate it depending on the need it works great but there are not the SW stations like in the old days.

Evening Possum, good to see ya posting. Back in the 80s I worked out of telephone central office, I was the sub cable guy and also did OSP and HF antenna maintenance, we had a bank of LA batts, that had been there since the 60s, simple monthly maintenance. We had a charge controller that manual charged em but you had to do it on a regular basis. I have been considering a solar set up I currently have a rudimentary set up for a H20 pump system I use to move water from cistern to my outside shower, animal water, and garden water. Its been going for over a year and it was a set of replaced 800CCA batterys that had been in my F250 IDI dates on batts are 02/2019.

Hey Frog; good to hear from you, my friend. I'm not surprised that you have a battery setup. I used to be able to get glass cased telcom batteries that were originally 8V but had a dead cell. That definitely sounds like a great breakfast. My mouth is watering. You have such talent that you can almost make a train wreck sound appealing. 😊 "Making do" is definitely a nearly-lost art. I might assert that we've nearly lost the concept. Ready-made, single-purpose, disposable... Our kitchens are packed to the point of looking like warehouses with single-purpose appliances. Rice cooker, crock pot, coffee machine, electric skillet, blender, coffee grinder, corn popper, microwave oven, air fryer, bread machine.... I'll step off of the soap box now before I get into e'games.
