Great tutorial. I've only ever used my Coleman Feather 442...but this seems a lot more reliable and simple.

I've always liked old school camping gear. I've had an Optimus 8R for years, and reading long haul backpackers' stories about the reliability of the 123 made me want to try one for myself. It's very similar in design to the 8R, but more compact.

hello old friend. I got an Optimus 88 second hand. Sadly I do not go camping much, but the stove has helped me twice in the immediate aftermath of two local hurricanes. Never a problem. I just had to make new gaskets for the spout from time to time.
